When he promoted his "Musicology" tour, he said "bring the kids so they can see what real music sounds like so we won't get a new generation of computer programmers instead of musicians"....it was the Jay Lenno show to be exact. Beyonce does not have real music. As far as being able to sing live, I could care less. Singing doesn't make my ass shake....music does.....and that's something she ain't got. Even if she may have a live band in concert, she doesn't have one on her CDs and those are what get played on the radio and influence other people. A style change in music will never occur if people don't start using live instruments on their records and I'm not going to support anything that keeps today's music the way it is....including Prince. As far as Apollonia or Vanity, I don't care if they can sing or not. Their music is what was slammin' and that's what counts with me. People put too much damn focus on singing these days. I've heard countless times Prince praise vocalists who don't have to lipsynch...The midget loves a good vocalist always has from Chaka Kahn to Mica Paris...That's his thing... The thing is, you don't like Beyonce nor her generation of music...And I can dig that...But say that instead of slighting everyone off as no-talent hacks...It's a little short-sighted... Again, I'm not even a big Beyonce fan and I know that in past shows she performs with a live band...She's not Britny Spears, that's for sure...And yes, music makes us move...But that's a whole other discussion that has nothing to do with Beyonce's talent or lack of talent...Now if she could sing some songs that actually match her vocals in a more consistent manner, then I think she would be alright...But we do agree that Prince should not hit up Beyonce for the Super Bowl...Of course for different reasons... Hell yeah, there is too much focus on vocals these days. Just look at all these damn shows like "American Idol" with all these singing contestants. Yeah, some of them can sing but big deal. Performing with her is performing with the very people he puts down. I didn't say she didn't have talent. My problem with her is because she has no music behind her voice. Yeah, if she performs with Prince, she will have real music behind her (for that moment only) but she doesn't use it on her albums and those are the ones that get played on the radio and contribute more and more to the music problem today. I'll put it this way, I would rather see Prince on stage with Shitney Houston than with Beyonce. Yeah, Shitney can sing her ass off but I could never STAND her more than anyone else in the music business because of WHAT she sang and the adult contemporary/pop influence it had on artists that followed her. However, it least what Shitney sang wasn't stripped down shit hop "noise". I may hate Shitney's music with a passion but at least it was actual "music". Again, I'm not even a big Beyonce fan and I know that in past shows she performs with a live band...
Which does nothing to influence a change today's music as a whole. She needs to perform with a band on her CDs. Of course, she knows she will get no radio airplay then. Lowering your standards for record sales and radio airplay is called selling out and I can't stand a sell-out. But we do agree that Prince should not hit up Beyonce for the Super Bowl...Of course for different reasons...
