I know. Soft&Wet got me listenening, but It's Gonna Be Lonely(that whole Prince album)---whooo, got me addicted... Maybe he will have compassion on us old-school Prince-heads, and do that song for us, besides, it's not like real freaky. He could sing that. He should be glad we love him for his rookie songs as well as his veteran stuff. Maybe he'll re-make it

I don't have all of Prince's albums but I have alot(over 20), believe me when I hear a Prince song I'm not into the first time I hear it, I'm just not into it.

That being said however, thanks for the suggestion as I will now have to put out an APB on the second disc of my Emancipation album, which after I just checked seems to be missing.
Someone came into my house and stole the best disc on the album(seriously)! !!!!
I am soooo fucking pissed right now.

It's Gonna Be Lonely is the only one of those three I'd make an effort to listen to.

Hate hate hate FLSMW (and most songs from Emancipation). Adore is, in my opinion, the single most overrated song in Prince's oeuvre.


For slow "love" songs I prefer When We're Dancing Close & Slow or Love...Thy Will Be Done or even The One or U Make My Sun Shine.

I'm not a big fan of Prince ballads...I much prefer the funk.

But to elaborate, I especially hate Emancipation (the album) and the songs affiliated with it because, to me, they represent a very weak period in Prince's output. I'm not a fan of the "Mayte/Emancipation" years because in my opinion, Prince went soft and was too lovey-dovey. (And he looked physically unhealthy.) Not saying that he can't write songs about being happy or in love, but Mayte inspired the most insipid drivel I've ever heard. That song (FLSMW) is positively vomitrocious. He wrote kick ass love songs for Anna Fantastic, Susannah, etc. but the on Emancipation is just too much for me to take.

I also think FLSMW suffers from one the same problems as I have with Adore. It's trying so hard to be romantic (ie. "ooh, baby I love you I can't live without you") that it seems insincere. You know, like a playa who's always throwing you lines that sound good but he's only saying them so he can get play. The lines are "romantic", but at the end of the day it's like receiving a dozen red roses and chocolates on Valentine's Day--very cliche and not much thought involved. It just seems very contrived to me.

I think songs like Pink Cashmere, Forever in My Life, IIWYG, or even Space are far more romantic. (And they're funkier too. )
