I think that's the exact one played on the Glam Slam Uylsses show. It's the live band one, the first version.

It's my favorite version. The guitar distortion is beautiful!

That's the one. wink

He's making me want to put together a 4 CD set of all of Prince's work from the name change to Emancipation.

eek

good idea. i´m kinda thinking about making my first ever serious
2 or 3 disc compilation of the best of prince

i actually started on this whole ´alternate come´ project but in
a matter of hours i started listening to boris´ THE DAWN which is
probably the best compilation of the gold/come era stuff you´ll
ever find anywhere, so why even try to go beyond that lol.

Will you use edits to cram more songs on?

Could you please post the details of Boris' "The Dawn"? mr.green

the 1993/1995 period. it's simply amazing.

Ah, Boris completed his The Dawn project? I know he discussed that a while back, and I thought it was a fantastic idea.

you've heard it. it's the one i privately call the "gotham" mix. lol.

it's just the electronic version, the more upbeat dance one.

say, is that version that mixes both the dance version and the album
version authentic?

i had this version, i think it was broadcast on dutch national radio
from the "5.000.000 dollar dat-tape" back in 1994 and it was first a
few minutes of the electronic mix, then an interactive like break and
then the part of the album version that starts at the cool horn stuff

it also started with this whole

when the fire comes will everyone burn?

clueless

I totally know the version you mean. I'm not sure what's up with that one. hmmm

Gonna have to suss it.

My understanding was that was a DJ mix. It may have been a Brother Jules mix, but I can't confirm that.

In answer to the original question...

'Come' was indeed intended for a single release
and there were many versions and remixes made of it
(the majority of which are not circulating)
But like so many things 'The Come Experience' was
shelved, '18 & Over' was intended for it, plus
the club mix too (the edit of which was used in
The Beautiful Experience TV special).

What do you know about the tracks that aren't circulating?

I know that the album version was originally a remix intended for the EP (the version from Glam Slam Ulysses was originally intended to be the primary mix, while the version from the Beautiful Experience video special was a proposed single edit. "18 & Over" also started life as a "remix" of the track.

As for what else, I know there were some other mixes done, but I couldn't tell you anything about them. They aren't circulating, and I've never personally heard them. I've heard a house mix was done, but I can't confirm this.

The rumoured "house mix" of "Come". I've never heard it, but I can do without it!
