now you're getting me sucked into this whole era again. i just know that i'll be making alternate come/gold experience playlists all of the weekend again lol. somehow i always felt that if come would have had a more gripping, shorter lead off song and a more defined album closer, it would be much more highly regarded by folks. even if he'd closed it with Strays of the World. at least it would have had a decent end. Orgasm just ruins the momentum the album's been building up to. it leaves you feeling very much unsatisfied.. plus with the long version of Come as an opener it is demanding on the listener to sit through it. a short, kick ass opener would do a lot to rectify that. for instance Interactive or such. Interactive Come Space What's My Name? Pheromone Loose Papa Lovesign Dark Da Bang Race Solo Letitgo Strays Of The World something like that. although that has a few flaws as well. i'll have to think about it some more at home. Post your results!

I miss that "What's My Name"/"Come"/"Endorphinmachine" medley he played live prior the release of the album, though... That was the first time I ever heard those songs; that pound of Michael Bland's drums still works for me... Which shows are you used to that medley from? It was the encore of the 94 Act II tour in Europe. Saw him perform it a few times. The Come beat would come on, pounding in your tummy. Then Prince would recite the lyrics to What's My Name and then it would kick off into the Come/Endorphinmachine medley.

Yup, I need 18 & over on CD. I remember seeing the VIdeo at Glam Slam store in Uptown MPLS. This would have been great. The SPACE maxi single was great...universal love Need I say more? Letitgo was a good maxi also. Prime aka The Kid

I just took some liberty with the name. It's a shorter version of the mix in the "Beautiful Experience" movie with extra talking by Mayte at the beginning.

you've heard it. it's the one i privately call the "gotham" mix. lol. it's just the electronic version, the more upbeat dance one. say, is that version that mixes both the dance version and the album version authentic? i had this version, i think it was broadcast on dutch national radio from the "5.000.000 dollar dat-tape" back in 1994 and it was first a few minutes of the electronic mix, then an interactive like break and then the part of the album version that starts at the cool horn stuff it also started with this whole when the fire comes will everyone burn? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

In answer to the original question...
'Come' was indeed intended for a single release and there were many versions and remixes made of it (the majority of which are not circulating) But like so many things 'The Come Experience' was shelved, '18 & Over' was intended for it, plus the club mix too (the edit of which was used in The Beautiful Experience TV special).

I think he did: "glam slam ullyses" version... whoops on that spelling.... oh well... I think It's the first song of that boot...it's segues into the early version of Chaos & Disorder (Rosie-less version) or Endorphinmachine, if my memory is still working. But I've lost that boot when my hd died! [Edited 1/12/07 14:50pm]
