IS THREE THE CHARM ? Well people do y'all think the "Latest Fashion" will b a hit? Prince has tried by my count now three triple albums with one being canned (Crystal Ball circa '86 by WB), and the other two being pretty much dissed by "all the critics" (Emancipation and CB). I would love to see a stunningly successful return to the tops, but my guess is that "One Nite Alone... Live" is too much of a retread to really catch fire with the buying public.
Did Prince actually showcase any new music (as opposed to somewhat obscure songs, i.e. Other Side Of The Pillow, Starfish and Coffee, etc.) on his ONA tour? My reading of posts and such describing the sets seemed to point to a combination of TRC and ONA tracks. I would have to say that the song Xenophobia is gonna have to be a monster to carry this as a commercial release -- and if I do say, the song is really quite appropriate for the times we find ourselves in post 9/11. It must be a heavy burden for Prince to have to compete against his own legacy, you know? By the way... I loved both Crystal Ball and Emancipation, and my personal opinion is that Prince made a killing with both, my gripe is I don't feel he is appreciated enough, or has been given the proper chance to succeed, post WB. Although I don't listen to Top 40 anymore, I want America to rediscover my favorite artist! Do the math a twenty plus record with NO advance singles (Crystal Ball). A thirty track record with ONE single (Somebody's Somebody). Do y'all think that WB will have the balls to try and ride on the coattails of this next release -- the assumption being made that his lack of promotion on those two albums being partly because of competing releases by Warners (Chaos and The Vault respectively). P.S. Ah, how could I forget WB's offering THE HITS. I bet Prince wanted to slap somebody's face for that release. [This message was edited Mon Sep 2 21:10:54 PDT 2002 by kmc] La, la, la

Since when were "Emancipation" and "Crystal Ball" dissed by the critics? The reviews overall were quite favourable if my memory serves right. Sans the Melody Maker review of course.

I guess it depends on what your definition of CRITIC is (not to mention "dissed"). It seems like almost every day I can read a negative comment about Prince's music and his supposed decline. For starters take a look at many of the posts right on this site for what I mean by "critics" and "dissed." Peace and chickengrease, my friend! La, la, la

Isn't the TRC material and ONA songs the newest music Prince has released recently? The general public knows nothing about TRC or ONA. I'm talking about mainstream listeners who primarily listen to the radio to tell them what the latest big thing is. By the way... I loved both Crystal Ball and Emancipation, and my personal opinion is that Prince made a killing with both, my gripe is I don't feel he is appreciated enough, or has been given the proper chance to succeed, post WB. The economics just aren't there for him to be hyped without a major label putting in work to back him. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Listen, If Prince Wants to be Commercial and all Over the Radio he knows how to do it. His music is Great and he Still has Plenty of Fans. I think he is doing Everything Just Right. I'm Happy with the New Direction and the only thing I would say is Dance more and Dodge the Suits and Baggy Clothing. But I think nothing's Really Changed. Prince is still Prince and he's Better than Ever.

The 3 would be also the QUEEN in tarot... So now we're getting somewhere -- the number three has some sort of magical powers in the world of witchery? What was/is the third album put out by our new Prince? And the answer is NOT, mind you, "Dirty Mind." La, la, la
