The Vault rules! I love this cd. Great horns and real positive lyrics. It's sad that I played it for my friend who was visiting this weekend and she didn't even know it existed! This is a girl who has almost every prince album, but after spending big bucks on Emancipation started to lose faith. She got "sold" on buying Rave and now is real hesitant to buy any more Prince, but it looks like she'll be getting the Vault next week. It just sucks that whenever Prince promotes a record these days, the record sucks! Why promote Rave and not TRC?? ______________________________________________

Who knows what he's thinking sometimes! The reason The Vault didn't get any promotion from Prince was that he was against the idea of it's release in the first place. Rave was supposed to be his big commercial album, so that's why he gave it a major push. But I really don't understand his reasons for not giving TRC a major push. It's a great album, maybe not commercial, but that's why it stands out from everything else.

Of course The Vault rules! I remember when it first came out tho, I was so disappointed in the fact that it was so short. I thought the music was total class and quality throughout, and I just figured it would be great if some of the tracks were extended, for example, it would be cool if there was a four minute version of The Rest of my Life complete with new verses and a freaky bridge. Of course, I'm just imagining that. And then you add in some other tracks that would fit in well, like the 10 minute studio version of The Ride.

Just listening to the Vault yesterday. Does Eric Clapton better than Eric Clapton on "5 Women". Anyway, great CD for relaxing and listening to great instrumentalist. "Love is God, God is love

Probably expectations from Arista. With TRC he could promote it (or not) any way he wanted. I don't know if he assumed the content would be a hard sell or not. So he promoted it the old fashioned way; by touring. Albeit a short tour. Though he could always add a second leg to the tour later on if he wants. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Even though I just don't hate "Rave" as much as some people in here seems to do, I just can't help to see it as replica to Santana's "Supernatural" formula. Do what they expect from you, add some radio-friendly tunes and call a bunch of guests to put their names on a sticker on the front cover. "The Rainbow Children" is a very, very different matter. Probably just the opposite. We are talking about MUSIC now, REAL music. Just a conceptual album not bothered by air play or sales ... Don't you think so ?

I just get frustrated when he really promotes a record and it sucks. The whole Rave 2000 was a great opportunity for a comeback and alot of publicity. If he had put out a good album or TRC at this time, I think he would be in good shape right now. TRC without the religious BS was a much better album and I think had as good a single as Rave did. ______________________________________________

That's when Prince is at full strength; when he's not worried about what other people think, and pandering. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

That's right. And the final irony is that Prince had a say in every aspect of the presentation, namely the artwork.Even though the material is top-rate, it was still meant as a desultory kiss-off for Warners. Check out the choice of colour for the spine of the CD: The colour of excrement. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Real fanz should know by now that Prince never makes the same record twice. But some lose faith just that quickly. I try to appreciate every album in its own light and not compare it to anything else because if you do you will certainly become dissolutioned.

I think it was well put together and the songs all sound of a piece. It would sit very nicely in his catelog as a '93 album. I like most of the songs but none of them are among my favorites. And because of this, it's near the bottom of the Prince pile for me. Not cuz it sucks but just because I think there are so many better projects. I never dig it out anymore. I think this album would've been better had it included all of I'll Do Anything too. Just as Chaos + Disorder would've been better had it left 1/3 of the tracks off and incorporated The Undertaker. Or just released that in its place!
