It sounds like Song Of The Heart was recorded very "freely", in that it sounds fresh and energized (like S.S.T. was). To me, it's average Prince. Middle-to-bottom of the pack.
What's fascinating to me is how popular the song is simply because it's tied to a VERY successful movie. 
Either way, hit or miss, I'd like to see Prince release more "one-off" tracks like this in the future. |

I thought it was a well crafted pop song, so there "The Song Of The Heart" is pretty much non-existent over here in Germania. I can't say that much about it's popularity, but it is a catchy song, as well.  "Whatever skin we're in

I am still playing SST! I love it! But I do agree with you that Song Of The Heart is lightweight. I bought the Happy Feet soundtrack just to have it (from a completist collector's point of view). |

the song is NICE....but people don`t get sucked in.....
It is fitting for a lovely penguin film..which i saw and loved... but no way better than anything on 3121 !!! it makes me laugh, no not laugh shake my head with a big frown... Stop and listern..... Heart song.....( not song of the heart !!)....calling this nice.. Then go to the real work.... Head,IIWYG,3121,Shockadelica,Girl...i can`t go on... Prince can do Heart Song like making a good meal....Just get the man the right ingredients...If you give him bread and jam u get a sandwich...U C !!! This is Prince..... Ask and he can do.... I just took my son to this movie on the weekend, and I *really* didn't like it (though my son enjoyed it, and of course that's the point - I just kept my thoughts to myself  ). Song of the Heart (heh heh... SOTH!) was definitely the high point, after sitting through that! |
