someone thinks Prince should play JB in the biopic.... swiped from aint it cool news.com, there's a message board about Spike Lee's announced James Brown biopic, here's one response:
MIDDLE!! by snomusic It's the new first ya know...I wonder if Prince would be willing to throw on a few extra pounds to play the lead. He's got the moves...and I hope they have Bootsy and Catfish Collins in it somewhere, but that would probably be saved for a George Clinton biopic. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Goodness no! I can't picture Prince acting as crazy as JB did sometimes..JB is a great entertainer and he was a one of a kind...but he sure did act crazy! I can't picture Prince acting that out of control and making it believable.
Hmmm...but it would be interesting just to see what a heafty Prince would look like...

Naw I can't see it. Prince is too old now. He would only be able to play the "Living in America" James and noooobody wants to see that.

My hero, Spike Lee...I wonder who will get the part..I think Eddie Murphy should play the James Brown in his mid 30s to 40s. As far as a young James Brown, it has to be someone who can actually dance and sing and scream like the young James Brown. [Edited 12/27/06 15:50pm]

I think Prince could pull it off...I really think he could be a decent actor with the right director, considering he´s no longer as full of himself as he was back then.
He´s one of the most disciplined and hardworking guys in showbiz, ever. So why shouldn´t he be able to do it ? Only problem is that Prince doesn´t look like James at all. Prince also should have played the Joker in Batman ( 1989)...he was more convincing in that Partyman videoclip than Nicholson playing Nicholson again. I´m an old school Batman fan. And Prince would´ve made a better Joker. Don´t count him off as an actor just because of Graffiti Bridge. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Ok...I got one...Omarion..he can play the young James Brown in his 20s until about 30 (with some makeup to make him look older). He can dance and sing, just has to work on the screaming....I could see Omarion doing the "Please, Please, Please" song, definitely.
[Edited 12/27/06 15:55pm] ----- James Brown: "Fellas!" Fellas response:Yeah? James Brown: "Imma 'bout ready to get up and do my thing... James Brown: "Ya ready? Fellas: Yeah! James Brown: Hit me!..Getta uppa! Get on up!...." ....and the rest is history! [Edited 12/27/06 16:03pm]

You're right..I went to msn.com and found this on Spike Lee..interesting. Spike Lee to Direct James Brown Movie Dec 27, 3:25 PM EST Spike Lee, who directed the film about controversial leader "Malcolm X," will try his hand at a more widely popular figure. The filmmakers has signed on to shoot a movie about the recently departed James Brown, reports Daily Variety. Brown died on Monday, Christmas Day, of congestive heart failure at the age of 73. He was known for his colorful performances, shouting lyrics and driving rhythms and influenced countless musicians and musical styles. A biopic about the late singer is a no-brainer considering his iconic status and that films such as "Walk the Line" and "Ray" have earned critical acclaim. This particular project had been in the works prior to Brown's death and even had the musician's input during development, especially regarding music rights. The Paramount Pictures production is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2008. Lee most recently directed "Inside Man." Highlights of his film career include "Do the Right Thing," "Jungle Fever," "Crooklyn," "Summer of Sam," "Bamboozled" and "25th Hour." [Edited 12/27/06 17:10pm]

Isn't Prince a little light to play JB? I mean JB was a kind of dark skinned man.
As far as weight goes they can put a little fat suit on him, maybe. LOL. I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

I think they need someone closer to JB's complexion to keep it as close to reality. I'm sure Spike will work it out, he's seems to be particular like that..I still say Omarion could play the young JB in his 20s.Matter of fact, according to that news article on Spike, Spike and James were already in talks about the making of this movie before James Brown passed away, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have the character(s) picked out already. Am I the only one who thinks this thread is in bad taste? James Brown only died 2 days ago, and already you're wondering if PRINCE should play him in a movie?
I mean really, show some respect. It's not all about Prince.
