Prince is my role model I know Prince is a fellow human just like the rest of us (well, actually he IS a genius so I guess that makes him a little different than us doesn't it?) but I can't think of a more inspiring person. I've admired people before but there has been no other celebrity or person in the public eye that I've found that has made such an impact on me with what they spend their life doing.
What I love about Prince is the fact that he dedicates his life to what he loves doing and takes chances. From what I know about him he made the choice to let his passion in life (music) to be what he was going to achive his goals with and survive. I love his fearlessness! Also he is always trying to improve/challenge himself with his music or just by being a better human being. He is so cool because he isn't afraid to say what he thinks and while some people might call it preaching I just see it as a man who knows people are listening to him and being aware of that and knowing that he uses his voice to educate his listeners with what is important to him. Besides people who express their true feelings and opinions no matter how unpopular ALWAYS get more respect from me. I know I might see him through rose coloured glasses because I'm such a huge fan and some people might see him in a different light and yeah I guess we don't know what he is REALLY like in private...but I really don't care. All I care about is that he keeps on making awesome music, keeps expressing what he is passionate about and keeps growing. Prince is the best. His music ROCKS and he seems like a VERY cool person.

That's really nice. I've never seen anyone who's said that P is thier role model. Thanks for sharing. I love a Man who:

I agree prince is a good role model. Really there is no other celebrity role model out now that does not have the "played out" stature that makes such a positive impact on music and political and spiritual areas as well. (4 as speakin up on the problems) music is his life and it wat he loves 2 do. Like father like son. bsides if prince retired from music where else would he go? mayb a minister? but wat else. hav u had ur + sign 2 day.
wish u heaven GOD Purplerain7772001

I think the man Prince plays in his songs is a good role model (someone who's free, loving, poetic, spiritual, monogamous, and doesn't touch drugs), but I consider that an almost fictitious character.
I don't respect the obvious facts about him, like that he cheated on his women so many times, contradicted himself so often, etc. in real life. It doesn't upset or offend me, since I don't know him personally, but I can't say that makes him someone to aspire to be either. Talent aside, he does have the personnality it takes to succeed. He started very young and always on his terms. He made mistakes and learnt from them. He tried many different new techniques to carry his business and went to the top. He's now a legend and yet keeps playing and making people listen to him and follow him. He didn't mind what people thought of him and didn't let anything get under his skin. He kept his head up no matter how he was judged. Although, he got booed quite a few times at the beginning, he'd come back and show people what he could do. That is what I think is a role model.

Did you wear assless pants and curse too and then develop a more refined spiritual sensibility whilst at the same time denegrating and discarding your most ardent supporters? From what I recall, you have expressed in the past that you were quite taken by Prince sexually. Has that sexual attraction lessened and evolved into a hagiographic admiration of his works and supposed positive attributes post transformation?

All the men I have been attracted to in that way I have respected and admired. I've always been attracted to people who are unusual, passionate in what they believe in, creative and outspoken. I've never went for the boy next door.

i'm very interested in prince, for various reasons...
as a JW youngster listening to his music (fan from age of 13, & "controversy" was the first album i ever bought, period), i often thought that i ought to send him a watchtower. but then i was convinced he'd never get it, so i forgot about that notion. needless to say, i remained a fan over the years and was rather interested to hear that he had spoken to george benson and larry graham, and was studying with the latter. i had remembered reading br graham's life story in the WT from years back. so while i was a fan, i didn't have any interest in posting on a website like this until TRC came out... that was too much! i had to see how people were reacting to it. so here i am. i guess he's sort of a role model for me, in a way, given that he's a most iconoclastic sort of JW, similar to myself only terribly, terribly famous... like him, i've stayed close to my God and have never really given a hoot about what others say about me. because in the end, goodness is its own reward. that said, i am skeptical when i hear rumors about prince... because i know how rumors go. what do you think?

I think Prince is great too. I've followed his life and career up until now and he certainly has a book there, and I think he's evolved into a better human being than he used to be But a lot of people especially one's who know him personally do not feel the way that we do about him!
