i love NEWS too!, also when you think about , lets say that Prince was a Jazz fusion artist only and we put all his Jazzier works together [please somebody list them for us!] i'm sure we'd saying 'hey that Cat's got a pretty decent back catalogue building up with some good ideas'.

I might work up a list for us. wink

What a great point.

I agree. If Prince were known as a Jazz/Fusion musician, U would see reviews like, "Solid. Brilliantly Adventurous. Another stellar example of Prince's stunning use of harmony".
"He's a musician's musician..."

She Spoke To Me is a testament to Prince's ability to make great jazz. Not only musically but vocally. It is definitely one of my favorite P songs.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I like C-Note and NEWS is OK. I hate Xpectation though and can't crack Madhouse.

I really dig it. Alot of people compare his work to that of Weather Report.

Prince's excursions as a whole are too uneven to sit through but i can bounce from track to track. 4 from Madhouse 8 is really good & so is the 2nd track off of NEWS. Xpectation has traces of Stephen Grapelli which i like alot. I wish he & Joni mitchell would collborate on a jazz fusion album, that would be the bomb.

I love Prince, and I love jazz. Put them together and I'm happy. lol

Seriously though, I like Prince's brand of jazz. It's got a twist to it. I love hearing him jam on the jazzier tunes. I feel like he's showing us what he's really capable of. I would love to hear another jazz/fusion record.

He has to MOVE ON from the Horns/Jazz crap.

Old friends for sale (sold a couple albums) then all of a sudden he goes back to doing it.

sure it is ok, but it is time to leave this genre for awhile. Go to rock, Gold Experience, mix it up again.
