Yes. Couldn't find clips of "Clockin'". I think that one was mostly the boys hangin' around watchin' tv or playin' video games. I think at one point, Tony M. abducts Prince and carries him away. My point was merely to draw attention to the fact that "Call The Law" has some competition. Would the thong and suspenders be the fashion equivalent of the eye-slicing scene? [Edited 12/7/06 7:00am] no, 'gangsta glam' is the one with the suspender thong. i'm fairly certain. they play it at berlin all too often, i'm afraid. they do not play 'call the law' nearly enough. prince in that bathing suit reminds me of the old man toy in the mouse trap game. you put him on the diving board and he jumps into the little plastic barrel. if you didn't have the mouse trap game, this means nothing to you.

Yeah, I know. You're right. I was pointing out several examples. 1991 was clearly a hotbed for innovation in the Prince image department.

ONA maybe came close but nothing beats lovesexy, anyone agree. For me personally I'd agree, but although I missed the SOTT tour, I think that was his best project as the material was stronger. Lovesexy was fantastic though!

ONA maybe came close but nothing beats lovesexy, anyone agree. oh my god - I 100% totally agree with you on this one - he has never looked so happy, relaxed with his band, sexy, hot, totally at ease with himself and his sexuality even though I adore him no matter what he does (almost!!) I really dont think we will ever see him as fresh as he was back then. I dont know how he thinks of himself and what he was in the past but in my opinion I think he was at his best inside and out back then... Disagree, I would go for the obvious. The release of When Doves Cry, in the spring of 84, so stark and standout on the radio. Then the buildup to the release of both the Purple Rain movie and record, and the single release of Lets Go Crazy. Don't think a B side such as Escape (was that a b side to a Lovesexy track, I have it, not the best) compare to 17 Days, Erotic City, and Another Lonely Xmas. Purple Rain the movie was awesome, the tour was full steam forward and in the public realm, and we got a very servicable concert vid out of it (Syracuse), which offered a new song (Possessed). Those old vids for Lets Go Crazy and the live Take Me With U are truly entertaining, though I do admit I like the zany creativity on a budget of vids like Alphabet Street and I Wish U Heaven are terrific. merf

The same could be said of the album. Prince liberated. The commercial failure of Lovesexy and lukewarm reception to the tour (which could be chalked up to, sadly enough, Prince fatigue among the record-buying audience) could have changed the entire course of his career. But most everything he's done since then contains Lovesexy's DNA. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

That's funny because i feel LOVESEXY is in the bottom 3 albums he's ever made.
There is no stand out great tracks and the whole album is just boring to me.

I wasn't a big fan of the album - to me it was a big letdown after SOTT. But the concert was awesome. I saw it twice, at Madison Square Garden & the Nassau Coliseum. My favorite moment was when he did "1999" with Sheila on drums. It doesn't get any better than that.

ONA maybe came close but nothing beats lovesexy, anyone agree. At the time,my friends called it rubish or just a lot ofnoise but I loved it and still do so much. Sure,PR and SOTT also had a strong all round feel 2 it but Lovesexy is my fav period.Like some said,he did it,on a lower level, with D&P but after that the concepts were gone.No wonder, after a decade of musical trips Love4oneanother

Yeah, I agree. U can't top 1984. Lovesexy was cool though. Not that crazy about the album, overall. I do dig "Anna Stesia" and especially "Positivity". That should have been a single. The music to Glam Slam is cool, but the lyrics are weak. Cool video though. Where Prince got the idea of wearing a blindfold is a mystery. But I dig it. I like Prince's image during this period. Took him back to his 79' album. His image was exactly the same. He just had the bread to have his clothes made for him. I saw the Lovesexy tour twice out here in L.A. The show, although it was a bit scattered, Prince was very passionate about what he was doing. Again, that went back to his early days. His 87-88 period, Signs and Lovesexy, live, he was in top form. The man must have never slept back then cuz all he did was record and practice. And it showed. He was SUPER driven back then. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Not even close! Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge and true Prince fan since the 2nd album(For You was iffy to me). But Lovesexy is not his best all around effort to me. I wouldn't put that album in my top 5 of prince albums. My selection is this from super best to best.
1. Diamonds and Pearls 2. Purple Rain 3. Sign "O" the Times 4. 1999 5. Emancipation If anything, I personally would have that album on the outskirts of the top ten or the bottom half of it. I'm not trying to make you mad because it was a good album and doesn't get the credit it deserves. Except for Alphabet St., my favorite songs on that project weren't single releases. "Dance On","When 2 Are In Love","Eye No", and "Positivity". I give you credit though, you do have good taste in music. Peace and be wild!

My favorite moment was when he did "1999" with Sheila on drums. It doesn't get any better than that. I agree, I found the album to be way overproduced and too happy and religious for my tastes. I prefer the dark funky side "When Doves," "Dorothy Parker" to the almost gospel church raveup feel of most of Lovesexy. Now the tour is a different story. I saw it twice and wish I had seen it more, but I was in school and couldnt afford it. The highlight for me was the extended intro into "I Wanna Be YOur Lover", and when he shot and always made a basket, and of course the entrance on the T-Bird, coming out to "Escape" right into "Erotic City" Are you shittin me??? ______________________________________________

I agree that Lovesexy was so much fun. As an album it was kinda weak compared to some of his other albums, but for some reason I still dug it and the concert on video I saw was awesome. While I do dig the 1999/Controversy/Purple Rain period, I would have to say where Prince was at his most fun was:
1. SOTT 2. Lovesexy 3. Grafitti Bridge As soon as he cut his hair I was like, Samson has left the building. I liked Diamonds and Pearls and The Gold Experience too, but . . . LQ
