Why is Silly Game so hated? I don't get it. It's a nice follow-up to the relationship angst of I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore, and it at least has really nice strings.
What's so awful about it? I've never understood this, as it isn't blatantly awful in an obvious way like Poom, Poom or Jughead. [Edited 11/26/06 10:20am] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Who hates Silly Game? Cuz Silly Game is hot. It's one of my favs on the Rave album. Some people think I'm kinda cute

Jughead has insipid lyrics and Tony M. Poom, Poom has Prince saying "poom, poom" a billion times. etc. I just don't see what's particularly bad about Silly Game. It's a pleasant, but not spectacular or special R&B song. [Edited 11/26/06 11:16am] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

i dont like the icky plastic sound...the fake flute refrain he just decides to tack on to the ends of the verses cuz he doesnt know what else to put there. the lyrics are fine...vocal is great...strings and melody are nice. reminds me of a modern day "betcha by golly wow" or something.

Not one of my favourite albums but I have always liked Silly Game. It is a tad syrupy for some people thats all. I think if you can appreciate a Damn U, then you will also appreciate Silly Game. The melody is very pretty and the instrumentation lush. | |

I think it's maybe the best song on Rave. And it doesn't try too hard (unlike Man O War or TGRES), it's just an easy pop song.
Nice melody, decent lyrics. Inspired in a subtle way. The middle part reminds me of Marvin Gaye. My Legacy

that's part of what I like. It's a regular song that someone else could easily sing. It's not about masters, it's not indecipherable, it's not too weird for anyone else to handle. It's another of Prince's contributions to the classic pop canon, ala Nothing Compares 2 U. My Legacy

I love Silly Game - one of my favourites on the album.
Jughead is cool as well. But I have to agree on Poom poom poom. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent.
