Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

to be fair it did. The first version to be released in the UK had Prince on the front cover. It was a single LP.I cant remember the track list because im at work just now. here is a picture (bottom left) I think both version were released in 83 though. OK, but if it was a single record, then that means it was simply an EP, with a selection of songs from '1999'... it wasn't the full album. [Edited 12/5/06 7:26am] "He's a musician's musician..."

Technically there were two versions of the 1999 LP - the second being for markets where WB felt that they couldn't market a double LP from a little-known artist. It could be argued there's three covers as you could count the Portuguese bizarre green coat cover as well (pic courtesy of Sleevographia)

If it wasn't the double album release, it simply wasn't the album '1999'... The proper album is as it is... a double album with the cover featuring Prince's artwork. That's all folks! "He's a musician's musician..."
