Hey Gemini, I was just thinking, what about Wendy & Lisa getting into the R&RHOF as songwriters/producers?

If he liked what Wendy and Lisa did, he kept it in, if he didn't, out it went.

It's been documented. It's just so bizarre to me how people want to downplay their significance here on the org. It's like people actually RESENT The Revolution or something. I mean C'mon. ?uestlove from The ROOTS says that The Revolution was the 'last great band', and he's right. 100% right. Really, what's the problem here?
I don't resent The Revolution. They were a good band but tell me what The Revolution has done that's RRHOF worthy. 1. They were in this R&R movie call Purple Rain in which THAT movie's soundtrack won an Oscar for best motion picture soundtrack! 2. Around The World In A Day was a Wendy & Lisa-infested Prince album (an experimental Prince album at that!!!). The Revolution were at their most unify best at this point. 3. The Revolution were consider as one of the most successful american live bands ever to travel through an European Tour (promoting Parade, the final Prince & The Revolution album before Prince broke up the band altogether). Hey Gemini, I was just thinking, what about Wendy & Lisa getting into the R&RHOF as songwriters/producers? as much as i love them im not delussional... no chance in hell...while they are influential within the industry they never broke into mainstream and thus i wouldnt think they would merrit induction...however, i do think there is a chance that Prince & The Revolution could get inducted...and a strong chance they will get inducted as sideman on their own... Culturally the broke barriers and reached out to blacks, whites and everything inbetween...their music crossed genres (and yes...The Revolution IMHO had their own sound)... yes, the image was created by prince...but they collectively achieved his objective...and they all shined. Surely the Revolution were not signed by Warners, Prince was the one with the contract, they were on his payroll. Does this not make a difference?

http://www.rockhall.com/h...uctees.asp is anybody advocating that? Advocating what, the band being inducted without Prince?.... Maybe I worded that wrong, I was really kind of wondering if any backing bands had been inducted with OR without the leader, you know like the JB's or something (can't think of another example, maybe the E. Street)... I dunno it was an honest question, I couldn't see any examples when I skimmed down the list. No need to get so defensive, I'd love to see The Revolution inducted, as unrealistic as it may be.

With The Reveolution talk about being inducted and all, what do you think about THE TIME or even Morris Day or even Vanity 6 being inducted?
Is there a fine line in dealing with Prince's side projects, although THE TIME is still going strong today?

Is there a fine line in dealing with Prince's side projects, although THE TIME is still going strong today? The Time would qualify for HOF considerations in 2007! I just thought about it!! Prince or Warner Brothers needs to put a good word in for THIS great funk band. [Edited 12/7/06 17:13pm]

Depends on who the note is addressed to, doesn't it? When I tell casual Prince fans that W&L put out some albums and do session work the general response is "Ni$$a, who gives a f$%^", and then I walk away all lonely and stuff. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I don't think so. The E. Street Band has been with Bruce since the very beginning and they're not in the RRHOF. So why is the Revolution any differnt? There mainstay was only 4 yrs.anyway. Besides, Prince once said in an interview that he actually preferred the NPG over the Revolution because musically he couldn't take the Rev. any further while the NPG's potential was limitless. If you ask me, there are a lot more deserving groups who had more impact on the biz who still not have inductions in the RRHOF yet. Like, The Ohio Players, The Time, The Whispers, The Dramatics, Kiss, Cameo, Van Halen, Kool & The Gang, and Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. So that's my opnion. If they do get in in 2010 then that will be good for them. But I doubt it. Peace and be wild!
