Have you seen the clip? I think a simple, "Please don't film my child" would've been more effective than going nuts and beating the living shit out of a reporter whose intentions were good and probably didn't even realize it was about the kid (whom I believe is never even shown in the piece).

What does Chris Evans know anyway? Yes Children he is Ginger, but that's not his fault. What I can't understand, is how he managed to get his job back at the BBC? He worked for them before and left because he was "too self indulgent". People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones Mr Evans!
p.s. I hope your Gingivitis isn't terminal. (LOL)

Chris (who gives a &%$# Evans does not know what he is talkig about. A music award show with less music. Sounds like a plan. NOT!!!!
As for last years performance, I watched on BBC America at home in California and I thought he was sensational!!! Everything after his performace was kind of flat. Except for Cold Play. They ROCKED!!! ----- BananaCologne said: In Saturdays UK Tabloid 'The Sun' Radio DJ and TV presenter Chris Evans blasted The Brit awards as "interminably dull" and that there should be less music! He then went on to slate Prince's show-stopping performance last year (you know the one...the one that all the journalists and celebs were raving about for days afterwards - yeah, that one):
"There should be less music too. For me, last year, the self indulgent early Prince performance would have turned a lot of viewers off. He was a nightmare leading up to the event, one minute he was coming, the next he wasn’t...very bad karma and I think he paid the price..." So, the question is: Do you think Prince has "paid the price"? His entire ginger-rant can be read on his radio show blog HERE

Let's all jump in and defend our beloved Prince from that nasty man!
Let's see... what can we take from this? A few good points, a few dumb ones. By all accounts, Prince was a royal pain in the arse (as per usual) and there was a lot of stress for everyone involved in the show. That shit might fly in the US, but in this part of the world we have less tolerance for that sort of behaviour. It was hardly the first time that disorganisation in the Prince camp has been a big problem for show organisers though - let's not act surprised here! Less music on the Brits though? I disagree with Chris on that. More music, and better music at that, might be the kick up the backside that the show needs. Really, most of the younger bands last year were made to look like complete amateurs in comparison with Prince's performance. More focus on groups that can play their instruments, less focus on flavour-of-the-month bands... that could only be a good thing. Prince's performance was a bit long though - it didn't sit well with the format of the show, and it did feel rather indulgent. Of course, we're Prince fans so we loved it, and it is true that if you're going to go to so much trouble to get a big name like Prince over from across the pond, you better let the guy play... all that said, the target audience of the Brits were by and large NOT tuning in to see Prince. Most of them weren't even born when Purple Rain came out.

If... "There should be less music too..." Why... Is he on the radio?

As my man Ian said, Prince's performace did run on the long side, I think he did 3 or 4 tunes. Don't get me wrong I dont think that every TV perfomance that he has done is great either. Did you guys catch him doing 3121 on the closing of the BET award show this summer? It was kinda off. I think most of the audience was lost cause he was in a strange key. But hey thats live music for ya.

Hey! It is fun to play too sharp or a little bit flat in concert band for a flute player. I am used to that. (Mostly cuz I get layz and don't pull out or push in the head joint.) So, I think that it is alright by me that Prince went into a different key. Plus, anyways, didn't Prince come off as shadey at the end of that performance anywho? I still love Prince anyways!!!! As for this Chris Evans dude, I don't think he should talk about Prince anymore cuz all I hear is

Most of them weren't even born when Purple Rain came out. Same could be said for Paul Weller who got the lifetime achievement award. If it had been Prince picking up the lifetime achievement award at the end, he would been allowed that much time and no one would be complaining, if only they'd made up some bogus award for Prince like other awards shows do to attract specific guests (see: MJ at the World Awards) there'd be no issue about him performing!

less music at a music awards show? thats crazy. its the only reason why ppl watch music awards- to see the live performances. otherwise it would be dull. the awards are supposed to celebrating music achivements (last time I checked) and he's actually suggesting to stop it. ugh.
and i saw the performance of Prince's last year..... it was awesome. it rocked. who exactly is this evans guy neways? "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."

Most of them weren't even born when Purple Rain came out. I agree, and Chris Evans definitely has a valid point. Much as I loved seeing Prince on the Brit awards, having his own 12 minute, 4 song mini-set a third of the way into the show didn't really gel with the format (and yes, it WAS self-indulgent for that reason). Of course as a Prince fan myself I loved it and would be happy for him to play for half an hour, but that's not what the Brit awards is about, nor should it be. Now if he were recieving the end of show lifetime achievement award type thing then that would be fine. As it's expected for the artist recieving this to put on a multi-song mini show to close the evening.

Hardly an obscure DJ, his tv and radio shows used to be very successful big hits a few years back, he married and later divorced then pop princess Billie Piper who went onto star in the re-invented hit Doctor Who series, and through investing his money at the right time, such as in Virgin Radio, became a multi-millionaire with lots of showbiz pals. He went off the boil a bit but now works again on Radio 2 the most successful radio station in the UK, and he's still much sought-after as a presenter. Besides, his blog was regurgitated in the tabloid newspaper The Sun which has a massive circulation, so his negative comments on Prince have been read by much of the population by now. That's why it is news. You know music awards are all about politics, its not about the music anymore its about who is around at the right time, chris Evans was good back in the day but he is so a has been and has nothing better to talk about, all he wants to do is make himself look better by calling other people,so let him nobody likes him anymore anyway Love peace not war.xxxx

But many truly enjoyed the "overlong" performance and likely felt like investing on P's back catalogue to discover more of his music as a result. People here do protest rather too much at times. .

Took a while but finally someones dared to tell the truth about Chris Evans and The Sun - both hugely successful media entities , well done Sir [Edited 11/30/06 15:42pm] Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

JonnyApplesauce said: Everybodys got a resume. Who cares? I was trying to show that Chris Evans isn't the obscure non-entity you said he was, and therefore this WAS news. Fair enough, for non-UK people this isn't news because they've never heard of Evans or The Sun, but thank goodness this is an INTERNATIONAL site which reports news of interest to people of many different countries. Every time Prince is mentioned in a US paper it gets reported here, I don't see why this wouldn't be news in the same way.
