what do people want for $100? I have been on this list for a while, and am surprised at all the moaning about the NPGMC...ok I have had a moan about not recieving my ONA cd (then they sent me 2!!!) but once reasons were explained to me I was cool.
Now we do get 4 cds for being member od the NPGMC, $25 a cd, or £17/£18 in UK money! This will hopefully be 4 cd's that are not to be released commercially and so are club exclusives! I have in the past paid £40/£50 for Prince music titles that have been commercially released so I think the $100 charge is a fair one to be honest! I have joined the club to get the cd's, and anything else is a bonus. I find it amazing that so many people are moaning when at the end of the day they are getting their moneys worth. So what if the tickets sell out quickly, this is a club for Prince fans, from which we get some excellent gifts (4 cd's), it makes sense that there would only be limited seating at the venues chosen for club members. After all, costs need to be covered! The $100 charge was for the cd's (in my opinion), it only gave you the chance to get tickets for the soundcheck! I don't think it was a gaurentee for tickets! It seems that some people want a hell of a lot for your $100! Just my 2 cents! [This message was edited Fri Sep 13 5:18:46 PDT 2002 by GavinK]

Join the NPG Music Club in 2002 and get music directly from Prince & The NPG, attend Prince concerts with the best seats in the house, and b the first with all the latest NPG Gear straight from Paisley Park" "Plus ALL 2002 members will B able 2 buy tickets 2 days before the general public" To me, and a vast majority, we should get what they say they are offering. Well, its two days before the public, and I can't get tickets. .

But when he does tour I find it no more than logical that those who wants tickets as a member should get their tickets. Only fair. You got the right to buy tickets before the general public. Well then they have to be available don't they?

I expect that every member that wants a ticket should get
one and than what is left over should go to the public, But a huge place like London, the concert should have been held at a larger venue. That's what you call common sense.

Do they have a purchase limit? maybe those who did did get tickets bought alot in one go??

You know, I have seen so many people in concert, I just recently saw Cher, and there was no problems, no frustration. I ordered my tickets off my computer.
I got the tickets in the mail and went to the venue and went right to my seat, and enjoyed the shows. Every time I do something related to Prince some problems or something comes up. When I ordered tickets for the celebration, it all went smooth. But than when I got to the celebration at 10 o'clock the first morning, they didn't open the gates in time.and it started raining hard with lightning and they still didn't let us in. I got as wet as if someone had thrown me in a river, so with Prince you either suffer now or later or sometimes both.

One big thing that is winding me up with all this, is when I see people posting from other countries, saying that they have tickets for the London gigs. This is even when he is going to the other countries or has played there already, in the case of the USA.
Really the pre-sales should go firstly to members within the specified countries at the limit of one pair of tickets for one concert to each member. If after that there are tickets left, then let people buy for more than one night, or from other countries. I do expect as a member to be able to have access to the sound checks and get preferred seating. Otherwise what is the point? $100 for 4 CD's is too much, I paid £9.99 for TRC, so £9.99*4 =£39.96 or about $28. If Prince wasn't coming here, then all is fair and that is the chance I took when renewing membership, which I did as soon as I could. As it currently stands, I will have to get tickets via general sale and no doubt end up behind people who are not NPGMC members, which is wholely unacceptable. I will also have to seriously consider re-joining next year. I will be mailing NPGMC regarding this when I get home, not that I expect anything to be done. RIP

$39.96 is roughly $56...not that I'm being awkward...
I do see your point of view (sort of), but the reaction Prince has been getting, no wonder he only tours here once in a blue moon.

Theres no guarantee that you will get general tickets either mate. They will sell like hotcakes and the venue is small! If you think there is anger here today, wait till monday when members who missed out today miss out in the general sale too! Picket the concerts I say! Let Prince see for himself what an inadequate business man he really is!

the NPGMC Offered things for certain for this years membership. 4 cds, pre-sale, preferred seating, and aftershow soundcheck access.
If you do not get these things, then what would you expect? I'm looking at paying $75 for a 3cd set that will cost me $30-$40 in the stores. I hear people who could not get in on the presale, and will be sitting in the rafters with the people who just like Prince ffrom the 80's. Also, I'm seeing that US folk paid $125 for these "preferred seats" in the US and people in the UK are paying 2/3rds that. Go figure. Oh, and I still haven't gotten my Rave remix cd. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Dauphin:
I don't can't comment on the difference in price between the US and the UK. What I can comment on is the fact that I went to the last UK show in Brixton and stood about 6-8 feet from the stage, dead centre, with only 2 people in front of me. It was the best concert I have been to. This fabulous experience cost me £28 and 4 years later NPGMC offer it to me again for £60. No wonder he says he's number 1 at the bank now. Gavin: Oops, yes you are right about the conversions, in my anger my brain went to jelly. Jon: The point you make about maybe not getting a ticket on Monday is a good one and that is part of the reason I am so upset. It would be bad enough sitting behind non NPGMC members, but not getting one at all doesn't bear thinking about just yet. RIP

Gent: exactly. I spent a week in MPLS to see Prince in 2000. $80 got me a tour of a place I had always wondered about, concerts/dancing every night, and a big concert at a real auditorium. two years later, it's $250, just because PRince is playing every night. bwah??? it's HIS HOUSE. He OWNS EVERYTHING. what changed? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

fairness .. that's all I want for my $100 ... to be treated fairly.
I have to say that the NPGMC email I received this evening has gone some way to helping the situation. I would like to think that they are trying to address the problems ... time will tell I guess.

A good seat at the show and for Prince to take a rope and lasso the moon.
