Your bottom 5 P albums of the 80's vs. Your top 5 P albums of the 90's -- How do they match up?

Are Prince's five best albums from the 90's better to you than his five worst from the 80's?

For me, I'd say his worst 80's albums (or rather, least great), starting with his worst, are:

The Black Album
Lovesexy
Batman
Around the World in a Day
Controversy

vs.

The Gold Experience
Come
The Truth
Emancipation
Chaos and Disorder

The Black Album vs. The Gold Experience

Winner: The Gold Experience

No contest here. The Gold Experience kicks the shit out of The Black Album for me. More cohesive, a stronger theme throughout, and you just can't beat that urgency and explosive energy of TGE.

Lovesexy vs. Come

Winner: Come

Another victory for the 90's. Lovesexy is joy, but Come is just so mysterious and dark. I love it.

Batman vs. The Truth

Winner: The Truth

This is a tough one, since I like both. In the end though, The Truth has more substance, and thus, more value.

Around the World in a Day vs. Emancipation

Winner: Around the World in a Day

Emancipation has some of his greatest songs ever, but its filler content hurts it here. ATWIAD's high points are less impressive, but its low points are far fewer.

Controversy vs. Chaos and Disorder

Winner: Controversy

Controversy might be a little short, but it's just much more consistent than C&D.

So, that's a 3-2 victory for the 90's. Three of his best 90's albums are better than three of his lowest 80's albums.

I LOVE EACH AND EVERY SINGLE RECORD HE RELEASED IN THE 80s.
NOT SO SURE ABOUT THE 90s.
I LIKE CONTROVERSY THE LEAST FROM THE 80s.
AND NEWPOWER SOUL FROM THE 90s. IN FACT, NEWPOWER SOUL IS MY LEAST FAVOURITE PRINCE ALBUM.

How is it confusing? Your 5 least fave 80's albums vs. your 5 fave 90's albums.

Basically, is Prince's worst of the 80's better than Prince's best of the 90's?

OVER

The Black Album, Dirty Mind,Around the World in a Day, For You, and Parade
