That's an interesting question. If he was broke and let's say not famous, would we love him that much or would we just thing is an excentric funny thing. Honestly, and I'm gonna hide myself from flying tomatoes smile, I probably wouldn't see him the same and wouldn't want to meet him that bad. I just wanted to be honest. smile

if people like him simply because he's rich, then they've got problems.

If Prince was broke,
then I'd say "Don't fix him".

Broke and not famous with no expectations...

I'd love to hear what that music sounds like. No matter what, it must be hard to separate yourself from the past as well as from public expectation. It would probably put him in a better place creatively.

Of course!

Prince has given me lots of listening pleasure but he's never given me any money...so how could I possibly love him because he's rich?

I think they'd actually like him more. It'd give him a sympathetic edge, kind of like martyrdom. And I bet ya he'd create some of his greatest songs ever while recording on welfare. nod

he'd be more interesting because he'd have to rely more on his imagination than what he could buy.

I think the die-hard fans would love Prince more if he was broke....because then he can go to New Orleans for future Jazz Fest and earn some of the money back by showing people what real music sounds like.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree. I wouldn't wish poverty on anyone, but Prince seperates himself when he's put in the world of regular musicians.

His greatness would be more obvious if he led an average garage band.

lol Prince would look kinda cute in one of those pizza delivery outfits. It would be like that line in "Under the Cherry Moon" where he sneaks into Mary's window at night and says, "Did you order a pizza, ma'm?" lol

No. That's the kind of stuff that insecurity tells a person. (Not calling you that)
If he were surrounded by great, he would rise to the occasion.

Poor doesn't mean average. There are many guys here in NYC that play gig to gig just to make it thru the week, but as far as greatness goes, these guys are the real thing. Very few "known guys" can touch a good handful of them.
