I understand why a lot of his stuff was taken down from there, like Computer Blue @ 1st Avenue 83, sigh, but why can't we upload certain released videos? eg. Mountains, Automatic and Glam Slam. I tried to just recently but they were rejected due to terms of violation. pfft.

Most things are copyrighted to someone or other. It would seem Prince or his lawyers have expressed a wish for his copyrighted material along with bootlegged material to be taken off.

A lot of material on Youtube is put up without permission. In the past much of it has received a blind eye, but now Google has bought it, it is believed there will be lots of material having to be removed due to copyright violations.
