Prince plans to release a three-disc boxed set titled
Xenophobia within the next few months. While no exact
release date has been announced, the singer's
publicist confirms to LAUNCH that there is a party
planned in New York City in September, to celebrate
the release.

Xenophobia will be comprised of material collected
during Prince's recent One Night Alone tour, as well
as at this year's week-long Paisley Park
celebration--also dubbed Xenophobia. Held in June,
Xenophobia featured Prince and his backing band New
Power Generation sharing stage time with sax legend
Maceo Parker, percussionist Sheila E., bassist Victor
Wooten, vocalist-pianist Norah Jones, blues man
Bernard Allison, R&B newcomer Musiq, and jazz vocalist
Rachelle Ferrell. Many of those artists are expected
to be featured on Xenophobia when it comes out.

While all three discs of the album have been
completed, the singer is still negotiating with record
companies to serve as possible distributors. And if
the "Purple One" gets his way, fans can expect DVD
extras in the boxed set, including videos shot at
Xenophobia. It is unknown however if that video would
be the same footage director Kevin Smith (Clerks,
Dogma) shot for an expected documentary on the event

It could take months for this to see the light of day if at all.

It does not seem however, so far, that it will NOT effect the 3 cd's we are getting thru the club.

Pretty smart. Make it a seperate release.

Dvd Extra's sounds promising. Going to label's yet again.

hhhmmm... I don't think it is smart of him to announce this... like this... and especially not now.

It is a completely different message than the one from the NPGMC and it it still doesn't make clear what to expect, nor is it certain if this will be distributed or not.

So I think this will mean more confusion.

& or:
- a 7 CD box set released 2 NPGMC memberz.


even Prince is confused.

hmmm...MAYBE...Just maybe...the members will get a 7 CD set and the general public will get the 3 CD set?

The 3 cd set will serve as an appetizer/teaser to get more people in the club, you watch..
If this occurs he'll be moving Celebration 3 to the Hubert Humphrey Dome, Good Lawd!

It's about friggin time Mr. Prince

Here's my negative spin on this news!

1. Why can't he tell the club members what is going on first? "Xclusive newz direct from the park?"

2. I hope the club edition is significantly different, because the retail version will be filling bargain bins in 6 months time.

3. Does this mean the music club will give no new music in 2002? only live disc and a 2001 demo?

4. If it goes retail you can bet there will be overdubs galore.

5. I bet "The Last December" CD is dead, to me it was always going to be a Rainbow Children live CD.

Heres what I'd like to see...

1. A 3 disc in retail, and a 7 disc available to purchase for club members only. This gives us exclusive rights, if we choose to buy.

2. Continued delivery of the Xenophobia studio CD (he did say this years discs were in the can BEFORE the celebration).

3. Delivery of the Madrid 2 Chicago CD

4. Delivery of the hits, as long as they are re-recorded.

5. Some customer service and information.

I'm wondering too...if there is a members and a retail version of this...would we members be charged to buy the exclusive set? or would it be a (huge) bonus in addition to the other CD's ? phew! seems crazy to think that it would be given to the members free of charge but...wow that would be cool.
