Prince and the Blues Is there any live shows on DVD or CD where most of his performances are more on the Blue's tip. He could always play the hell of out his guitar on various blues tracks during his live shows. My favorite was the version of "Johnny" on the rave 2 the year 2000 concerts. I feel very un-interested in his last 2 official releases. I felt as though they lacked emotion. I remember seeing Prince perform on some award show ( I think it was the 2006 BET awards) with stevie wonder and Chaka khan and it just looked like prince was just going through the motions. He was showing all of these emotions on his face while he was playing the guitar, but it didn't seem like his heart was really in it. If you have the performance, watch it again and you'll see what I'm talking about. He seemed as though he was mechanical. You know how he makes those faces when he was on the guitar. It just like he wasn't really feeling it. like he was just going through the motions. My point being, I miss that raw edge he used to have. I think his new religion has ruined his raw and creative side. Does anybody know of any must have live performances on dvd or cd that I can add to my collection that have that shows his Blues "ish"/ Funk side. I'm not looking for a 20 minute jam session, but a concert that plays more blues and funk. Is there any performances of him at the House of Blues, and if so are they any good. let me know.

Sometimes I wish the man would just play the guitar. At the Fillmore/Tamar gig people who'd never seen him before were actually laughing at how over the top his expressions were. The man loves attention but for even him it looked manufactured & actually took away from his amazing guitar licks that night.

I'm glad somebody else sees what I'm talking about! What are some of these good Prince/ Blues performances that are floating around out there that are on DVD or CD? If anybody knows let me know the names of these discs. I need to add some new music to my collection. Not necessary new, but new to me. I'm just so tired of this new music scene that has no creativity and no talent except for a few artists.

I really appreciate your help. I wasn't looking for individual songs but more like actual performances whether they were on DVD or CD that showcased his Blues Talent. Or any performance where you goes off on the guitar. Or any performances where he performed a lot of Blues Classics whether they were his or cover tunes of other artists. Keep in that If you have any names of any particular performances that fall under this categoray.
