Prince and the stadium tour I know that Prince has played Wembley (at least I think he did), and perhaps one reason he did that, is that Europe may not have as many arenas as the States does.
My question is, has Prince played alot of Stadiums as the headliner?..Bruce Springsteen sold out Giants Stadium for 10 nights back in 2004 during the "rising" tour. I'm wondering if Prince could do the same, or if the nature of his music, shows, and fans are not condusive to a stadium venue. Does anyone know if he's played in Rio, where the stadium holds 100,000?

He has certainly played a few stadiums during his career. Wembley as you said in 93. I saw him at Maine Road in Manchester in 92 and he also played there on the Nude tour in 90.
It's been a bit sporadic though. I don't think he has ever done a tour that was soley stadiums. He tended to mix outdoor shows with ones in indoor arenas. I doubt that at his current level of support that he could sell out a tour of Stadiums. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

I'd prefer that he played smaller venues. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

He did the Orange Bowl in Miami, one of the final gigs on the Purple Rain tour. But I really don't know if he has played any stadiums in the United States. It's always been big and mid-size and small arena, intimate venues and the like.
Wonder if Prince can command such a performance today that requires a stadium?
