I'd love to see a new section in the Retail section of the club, where several live concerts were listed, with full tracklistings, and maybe an mp3 sample of 1 or 2 tracks.
Below would be an option to buy a 2 CD live set for say, $20. When this option is selected, and payment made, the user is then asked to vote on which concert will be released.
Then, when enough have been bought, say a minumum of 5000, then the winning concert is taken to the studio for production, and the CDs pressed up and mailed out. Then, a new concert is added to the list to replace the one sent out, and the whole process starts again.
This would be good for us, as we would finally start getting good official live CDs, and good for Prince, as he would be making $100,000 minus production costs for each set, plus creating an atmosphere of uncertainty for people considering buying bootlegs.
I guess some people wouldn't like not knowing which concert they were going to get, but I would have thought most would want whatever would come.

An excellent suggestion. Maybe if enough of us email NPG inquiring about the possibilities, they'll give it a go. Prince would make money, we'd have official live CDs, w/some liner notes, etc., and he beats the bootleggers at their game.
