But after a playlist of my personal favourite Prince songs, the new Beck, the Tori Amos boxset and some selected Ryan Adams songs this song just comes up short for me. Sorry. I will try giving it a few more spins anyways, for you. But I have the capability to pick the best Prince songs offa new releases, which were 3121, Fury, Black Sweat, Love and The Word from the previous album. And two of those are already a bit boring after a few months. This song will certainly make that list of 116 best liked Prince songs... it was the flattery wasn't it?

Actually, I like the song. Reaminds me of a beginning of summer happy song. Kinda cute and short like Strollin from D&P. Not a great song but cute and fun. But I really like Strollin live at the 92'-93' shows.

Did anyone notice in the little biography next to the page they listed him as a high school dropout and in the similar artists they listed : "T.C. Ellis, The Bangles, Sheena Easton, Michael Jackson, Rick James, Lenny Kravitz, Teena Marie, Ready for the World"

As for the song....not bad but not good either. If it were an album track it would hardly gain notice but since it's a one-off release it gives us something to talk about. I don't think the song has any hit capability. I'm sure he is hoping that this song would be a hit the way that many Disney cartoon songs have been hits but I don't think so. | |

Not too excited about this, especially with the adjective most used to describe it is "cute". Prince & cute in reference to songs should NOT go together. fuckin' happy feet.  The check. Hehehe, I told you two of those are already getting stale. Guess which ones... lol. I always have a song on a new release I take a liking to and listen to too much at first. I kinda like the beats of both songs, but dislike some of the other aspects, like 3121's lyrics or Black Sweat's early R&B synth line that should have been a bleeding bass to make the song kick-ass. I will send you an orgnote with my playlist. |
