I figure Prince is Prince and Prince will always be Prince, even when his name is a symbol or some other stuff - he's still Prince. smile

HE'S COMING AGAIN

I always wonder why artists are not supposed to change. Am I not myself because I don't shit my diapers anymore?

Prince is Prince still.

But to answer your question, Graffiti Bridge was the last of the "Prince" styled records.

Prince will always be Prince. Just because he isn't sing, dancing acting the way he did in 1985 does not mean he is not Prince! He is maturing. EVERYONE WILL MATURE!!! EVERYONE WILL "CHANGE"! Trust me, 10 years from now you will be thinking and acting differently. I pray you are not thinking and acting the way you did 10 years ago. Maturing is a part of life. You will understand all of this one day. wink
Anyway, Prince was constantly changing throughout the years. He rarely did the same exact thing for too long. People tend to grab onto a Prince "era" and feel that he should always be that way. He has never done that . He was always different!!
To GOD be the Glory!

Who is Prince?

To me Prince is that sweet driven child with all the talent and abilities. That Prince was lost along the way. Only leaving echos, Prince isn't Prince no more. Today's Prince is a jumbled mess of egotisim, selfrightousness, selfish "love" syndrom, .... he's a really lost soul.

I'm sure too many of you will think I don't know what I'm talking about, but that's just because you don't truly care about Prince.

The one's that do truly care know, because we can see past ourself.

Prince is fallen into a darkened Pit. Is there no one willing to throw him a rope? No, there are several of us thowing the lost soul a rope, but it is Prince that would need grab it.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Prince couldn't stop being Prince, even when he's tried! Yes, he's matured and may not do all of the things that he used to but he always has and always will be Prince.

why don't you shed some light with evidence/examples backed up with evidence of what goes on in his daily life to prove your point? biggrin

Don't be fooled okay, Prince's basic beliefs and character haven't changed. I think his religious beliefs have caused hhim too settle down more but basically if you've seen and heard him in interviews he's still Prince.

i think the only one you're shaming is yourself by making statements without backing it up.

but that's okay, I respect your opinion/speculation. razz

Prince is no different. He'd probably like us to believe he's changed, but aside from some stiffness in his body I don't think he's changed.

which Prince r we talkin about here?
the private Prince or the public Prince?

either way it might be a little unrealistic to expect whatever image you have of him in your mind to eternally maintain itself as living fact.

alot of the Prince people know, is the public Prince, the public image, the performer, and as it keeps being stated, apparently no one knows the private Prince, which to me, is the Real Prince, who no doubt keeps growing, changing, evolving, like the rest of us.

unless of course what is really being said here is that he isnt evolving as a human being? i'm not saying he isn't, alot of people don't, and there's an old saying that goes " any species that fails to evolve is doomed to extinction "

in regards to his music, in my opinion it is also unrealistic to expect Prince to maintain the same level of energy that was in his work 20 years ago, or even as recently as 5 years ago. he's been largely conditioned by a system of thought that is not condusive to everlasting energy. there are certain lifestyles required to be lived for that kind of eternal shining to live on unadulterated.

i think Prince made a huge sacrifice when he chose to be born on Earth during the timeframe in which he was. he was/is a mass media figure. he sacrificed true freedom in daily life, privacy, anonimity, in order to fulfill his 'mission' to enliven and love humanity through the music God gave him to express. he is a Prince of the Heart, and through his music he has enabled many people to connect to the love inside them, always only as a vehicle of God's Higher Love.

fame seems to keep him distanced from so many things that you or i or the next person may take for granted. but then again, in love, and healthy relationships/friendships, the true quality of those may escape him just as much as they can escape the rest of us. but no doubt it might be harder for him to claim and live them, given his 'famous' lifestyle.

i see Prince as someone with great courage, i dont think that has ever changed. i think he finds his freedom in his music, and every once in a while, the starry glint in a lovers eye. i dont think that has ever changed either. i respect and admire his ability to live in the moment as best he can, although he might not always engage fully in certain moments that may indeed require more commitment from him, in this respect, he hasnt changed either, and makes him no different to the rest of us.

i think deep down he has always tried to do what he perceives to be the right thing, to the best of his knowledge on that subject. i think he has given his fans what they wanted, only to see them abuse the privelege ( not all ), and then he withdraws his good nature and focusses on himself. i think he always thought with his heart, i dont see how that has changed either.

i think i'd be more interested in a thread asking " in what ways has Prince changed for the better? " and to use that discussion as a means of learning something about our own selves... ' how have WE changed for the better '... and upon what ground do we know exactly what BETTER is?

if ur a fan thinking Prince has to stay a certain way in order for you to maintain your OWN identity, or cling to the past, or re-live the times u felt good, i think that would be placing way too much of an expectation on him. i dont believe he was born to uphold anyone's happiness, add to it maybe, but not be entirely responsible for it by continuing to appear exactly the way u want him to.

it would seem the whole 'Prince Messiah Complex' is almost over and done, and i believe that is a good thing, but maybe its time to weed out any last little bit of false hope anyone might still have in that regard, and be ur OWN messiah.

btw. this response isnt directed at the poster of the thread.

Come on...
We are Prince fans here. Maybe he is struggling, but whatever...as fans or "fams", we can still relate-we're human. And to say we "truely don't care" is absolutle crap. You are just trying to get a rise from those of us who do. Ofcourse we don't KNOW him, don't care for him like his women do or maybe his MAMA did, but you don't either dude. Are you really gonna take the time to type out that because people may not agree with you that they don't care? And then follow with "because I love him"? Get outta here. We are Prince fans.

he don't have a mission anymore. seems like all of his associates are hogging the lime-light. i hope he's having a nice time and enjoying himself. he's going to do rocknroll and he hasn't got anything to prove. no matter the state of affairs in this world, prince will always be paisley park...

Lovesexy..

I know it gets alot of praise on here and its noted, but after lovesexy p changed

lyrically and musically.

I just think Wendy & Lisa, yes i said it, anchored him and touched him and tuned him into a array of ideas and music that prince may have/or havent really knew or looked at before.

When Wendy & Lisa left, Prince changed.
