Opinions please on what could be considered the most spiritual album(s) of Prince's. Open to all perspectives,and ofcourse....there are many.

I was thinking "Rainbow Children". There is really so much that could be called spiritual of his work. I just ordered Emancipation, what about that?

Lovesexy and TRC are both religious... the Lovesexy Tour was very spiritual. There you had Prince acknowledge that whatever God was inside you was what was important AND that it was important for you to let that god come out to play.

I'm sure he had an ida of the kind of god he wanted inhabiting his fans, but I took it as an expression of secular love in a show that endorsed individuality.

Lovesexy was religious by an absolute mile. Of course it was.

It purported a belief and reassurance in Jesus and, I'm sorry to say, the only Jesus Prince has displayed knowledge of is one through religious belief; hence, Lovesexy = religion.

Just because he was being secular with his argument on Lovesexy does not make it a non-religious album.

On TRC, you may be right, he may have been trying to dictate. That does not disualify Lovesexy as a religious album. On this, and this is where I firmly stand with regards Prince and his religious attitude, he seemed to be calling all beliefs together. Fantastic. On TRC he had made a decision to follow one religion and expressed an opinion, through the music, that his religion was the right way to 'worship'. I disagree. But then, Prince hasn't listened to me thus far... I can't imagine why he'd start now.

Fair enough, it isn't dogmatic like some of TRC, but it's religious.

Lovesexy is the most spiritual Prince album, but The Rainbow Children is a close second . . . but TRC is definitely more religious.

Lovesexy just seems more inviting and "generalized", inviting the listener to make his/her own choices/decisions. The Rainbow Children is preachy.

It's been fun going along for the ride too with all the albums too! It's the quest for God that turns me on.
