Is Prince Just another Ageing onceuponatime Popstar?

If not, what is he?
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

ultimately he is aging...as are we all
and whether he's a pop star now or once upon a time...is irrelevant..
so yes, he is/was a pop star and he is aging. but is he JUST that? No, I feel he's more than JUST that.

We're all going to be "Once upon a time" Mick.

As for "just another aging popstar", I don't know of many other "aging" popstars that have much significance. Prince has some because people still ask questions, listen to his music and jam at his conecerts.

He' like a fine wine that you pour into a glass. Sniff, settle on the palate and savor or just drink straight from the bottle. I'll take his music any way I can get it.

I was watching TV with a friend after American Idol. We just saw P perform and my friend asked "Why all the thick make-up?" (she has no interest in P, she actually said "Oh, he's still around" eek ) . Then low and behold, Lil Richard and Geico come on a little later and my friend screams out "That'll be Prince in a few years!".

I did not have an answer as to "Why so much make-up?".

I responded to her second comment with whistle

This was a very good answer. That's not saying I agree with "what music and a musician should be", but if you believe that, it's about as perfect of an answer as I was hoping for.

The only thing that separates Prince from older groups like Midnight Star, Con-Funk-Shun, The Barkays, Cameo, Lakeside, The Dazz Band, etc., is that he has an extremely large and diverse fanbase that has continuously stuck with him over the years.

As far as making a huge splash in the current music scene, he might do it every now and then but his huge fanbase is what keeps him constantly making money as opposed to having to playing various old school music festivals and casinos like the rest of the older groups.

As far as making a huge splash and staying in the mainstream constantly, I don't want him to because today's mainstream is a bunch of bullshit. He needs to just keep making music to please his fan base and tell the mainstream to go to hell.
