If Prince's music lacked after W&L left, then is he really a genius after all?

I mean, on the one hand, you say, he's a genius...

but then on the other hand, you say that his music after W&L lacked color and inspiration.

So if that's the case...then why the hell are we calling him a genius?

Discuss.

After leaving or kicking the Band, no longer did prince have to deal with the feelings or opions of others. Some might think of that as a good thing, but I don't. He delved deep into Princeville where he isn't just a Prince but the King. This would evedently lead to a disconnection from reality, and a loss in connectivie lyrics. I don't think he really cares.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Is this a unique experience, though? Have other artists gone through this?

Everyone doesn't say that.

Though a fue artists have done it, Like Michael Jackson, I'd still call it unique. Especially the way Prince has gone about it. Jackson and Prince are the only two that I know of to shut themself's off compleatly from any form of agreeable reality.

Madonna is always been a stand alone artist. She has a good relationship with a member of the oposet sex and has been able to give forth children unlike Prince.

Look at U2.

Bono is one of the power house factors of that group, but he didn't let his head swell all up so that he cut the band loose.

The more I think about Prince, the more I don't like him, that's why I just don't think of him no more.

ok, but we're straying from the question I've raised here...IS he a genius afterall if his music has been lacking since he let Wendy & Lisa go?

"Genius" is an over rated and over used term. In some aspects sure, and other aspects nope.

I have this thing up in my office. It's known to many by the name computer. It can take me to many places to meet up with others. The only problem is you need an "address" to go to. I've been looking for other addresses over my computer, but they just aren't as much fun. Besides, Prince needs a good Kick in his ass from time to time. nod

If you are prince, I feel sorry for you, however I'm assuming you are not. Did it ever cross your mind it is for people like you that people like me are here and not for prince?

Mick, in all seriousness, what do you want out of Prince and his music? If you don't dig Prince anymore then what keeps you coming to a place and specifically a section for Prince? I'm not trying to be a dick, I really want to know what's up with you.

Yes but even Jackson allows input from others in the studio, no?

BEAUGARDE

I don't think P would have ever made cds like D & P, Love Symbol or Exodus with Wendy & Lisa around. Maybe they shouldn't have severed all ties 2 each other. They could have worked on certain songs 2gether. I would have liked 4 P 2 have continued working with Jam, Lewis, Day, Sheila, Jill, ,Dez, Brownmark, Jesse & Cymone as well as W & L. Maybe 1 day he will.

That's a complex question, and the dynamics of such a question isn't that intresting to me. Althought the answer could be view as a yes, I'm going to go with a no, because Jackson needs be sold the input, and Prince is quite like that too.

I never really thought Prince would end up just a couple of rungs up the ladder from Jackson. It's really tragic.

Prince is definitely a genius, and Wendy and Lisa r overrated.Wendy wasn't even in the band long enough 2 have the profound impact on the music that she gets credit 4.Face it,people-that's over with! And I'm letting y'all know-all comments praising Wendy and Lisa will b ignored by sexxydancer.I've said my piece and I'm not going back and forth with any of y'all about this.
