Some suggestions please...

I mentioned in a recent thread that I've been introduced to Bob Dylan by a bloke at work... not actually introduced, I hasten to add, merely exposed to his music... not actually exposed, I hasten to add... oh, this could go on for some time.

ANYWAY...

I've threatened an exposure to Prince in a similar vein... not actua... oh stop, it's ghastly.

So. The question is, of course: which songs? If I'm to put together an album of Prince for a fifty-something Dylan fan, who is very keen to hear some Prince stuff... what should i subject him too?

Initially, I thought of going for the 'song off each album' approach... but I'm not sure. Then I thought of going for acoustic stuff, but that just seems to be pandering. What should I select?

One Rule - OBVIOUSLY - No Purple Rain, because it's a poor song.

I thought I'd start with a couple off 1999 - like Lady Cab Driver and All The Critics... add to that How Come U Don't Call, 17 Days, Let's Go Crazy and The Beautiful Ones, and I think you're off to a string start.

I thought I'd include a couple off The Thruth - Don't Play Me and Come Back, possibly even Fascination. I'm likely to include The Exodus Has Begun and, if I can find a copy anywhere - cos my vinyl isn't with me at the moment - the original Family version of Nothing Compaares 2 U. Pink Cashmere, When Doves, Sign O The Times, Starfish and Coffee, If I Was Ur Girlfriend and soem stuff off Lovesexy appeal... What else, oh yes, Parade... now, which ones? Probably Anotherlover... but Kiss? I'm not so sure - he's probably been perverted by that Jones' version. What about Life Can Be So Nice and I Wonder U (The BEST P&TR song EVER)?

So many choices... your help please!

Hmmm. Maybe some of Prince's more obscure storyteller, emotional songs since Dylan is known to be such an incredible lyrisist.

Shy
Dolphin
Tangerine
Strange Relationship
I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man
I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore
Anna Stesia
Moonbeam Levels
Rockhard In A Funky Place
4 the Tears In Your Eyes
She's Always In My Hair

I'm not sure exactly what your looking for but I hope this helped.

A Dylan Fan might like Sheryal Crow. If so they would reconize "Every day is a winding road" thus how about the remake?
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.
