Amusing Prince Comment From My Son

My boy, who is four and a half, came up to me the other day and asked why the girl in the Prince song wanted to turn him into a cat, and how she could do such a thing. I said "a cat? What are you talking about boy?" He looked at me, dead serious, and stated "you know, 'Lolita, you're sweeter, but you'll never make a cheetah out of me'".

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That reminds me of a few weeks ago.. To set the scene, in my spare room I have the infamous Lovesexy-era poster from the programme with our man wearing that police hat.

My mate was in my house with his two sons, about four years old now.

My friend came in laughing and said, 'My little boy said to me, "Dad, who's the girl in that picture?"'

I can't say I'd have thought any differently at his age right enough. eek

u never realize how much our passion for prince's music trickles down to ur kids...LOL

Yesterday we were grocery shopping (me and my 14 year old). I had my ipod on (of course playing Prince) and he reached down and turned it off and said "listen, I know that is Prince playing, but I don't know the name of the song." (talking about the store speakers)...I had to laugh when my son recognizes a Prince song that easily, especially one I haven't played in years (it was I Would Die 4 U).

That is so cute. My 3 year old daughter has now become a fan and yesterday she was playing with her cellphone and I walked in her doorway and she was acting like she was talking to Prince on the phone telling him to come pick us up and take us to his house so that she could play with him. So she hung up the phone came out to me and told me to get dressed because Prince was coming to pick us up and take us to his house. I thought that it was cute. It's always nice to know that good music is being passed down to other generations.

No. He's four. If he wants to think it's about a woman with the power to turn Prince into a large cat, then so be it.

Well, they will until they get to be teenagers, then they'll probably decide that everything we like sucks, and that all our music is really lame! Guess we gotta enjoy this while it lasts!
