The recorded version is definitely about God, and nothing else in the SNL version would tend to indicate it being about anything but God.

[Edited 7/28/06 22:26pm] I totally agree. The song does appear to have a double meaning. It's not just a straight forward song about God, it's also a song about a friendship(platonic) between two people. Here's a gif of the hug. P looked to be very proud of his mentee.

Uhm, I didn't know that she had been a Prince fan. A few months ago, I visited Tamar's site. There's this pic of her and Prince that reminded me of a pic of Mani and Prince before it was official that they were a couple. Prince and Tamar are sitting in a couch. Prince looks rather tense and uptight like a doll and Tamar looks relaxed and confident. If they don't marry, they are probably in a relationaship of some sort already. | |

yes they do but it doesnt make it right only perfectly matched yin yang pairs r meant to be together its happened to me many times fallin in luv with someone i worked with especially in music but never meant to be cuz they werent my perfect match neither is Tamar Prince's.
