There was a Prince impersonator/tribute act playing at my University graduation ball.

I'll give him his due - he had the man down to a tea and when he got some drunk girl up on stage to sing 1999 with him and she got the words wrong, his facial expression was a spot on Prince "what the fuck" look that I had seem time and time again from the man himself

Down sides...he was about 6 foot tall, no heals and was probbaly from Nottingham

Remember Alex Curvello, Blue Moon booking agency I think. Hes a good gay and white Prince impersonator and his dancing moves are body popping like Micki Free from Shalamar
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Old school fans will remember that guy from Midnight Star's "No Parking On The Dance Floor video. He did a good job.

17dayz

There was a guy who plays around the New Jersey area sometimes. Used to call himself "The Duke of Earl" but had to change his name for obvious reasons. Someone said he took to constantly changing his name as a tribute to Prince. Last I heard it was Bob George.

I saw him once at a sit-in jam and another time at a "battle of the bands" in Lakehurst, NJ. He looks more like El Debarge than Prince and he's a little heavier and about average height (5'8"). Other than that, he does a pretty dead-on impression. Aloofness and all. He specialized mainly in Purple Rain/Revolution-era Prince but adds a some of the NPG stuff and Im sure some of the new stuff (I haven't seen him in over a year). He plays guitar, keyboard, drums and saxaphone (never saw him pick up the bass). His voice gravitates between Prince and sometimes Ronald Isely. Kind of a Terence Trent D'Arby. His band was all black except for a white girl on keyboards. They were pretty campy and reminded me of one of those cheesey bands you see playing in hotel bars. He had the moves too. But he couldnt handle the heels as he was wearing regular cowboy boots. The percussionist and the girl would come out front with him and do some choreographed steps and the girl sang the duets like "Take Me With U" and "U Got the Look". Cant seem to find him now though cuz I moved to Philadelphia. My friends back in NJ havent seen him in awhile either.
