I used 2 date this woman in San Diego that was so BEAUTIFUL that she would and could STOP traffic from men and women. It was surreal but I could tell that she had NEVER been treated like a person. I had 2 let her go because she was not living in reality but it was NOT her fault. People just treated her different. That was a unique relationship. I could NEVER really get 2 know her.....because I don't think she knew herself.

to be young and beautiful is both a blessing and a curse... on one hand you posess beauty, something everyone wants some want to love you some wish to destroy you. most times with youth there comes a certain naivity which leaves you vulnerable because you can't decipher one person from the other. this song whether it is sincere or not is written from the correct viewpoint. the writer takes the position to wait until the object of his desire is mature enough (mentally and emotionally) to make the decision to be intimate. Its very sweet and conscious.

this song is a treasure...it sure gives young girls advice. when my niece was 8, she sure dug this song. this is advice that dads and moms should be giving to their children. thank U Prince!

Not to be pessimistic, but my interpretation is the subject is under the age of 18, and he wants her to not "give it up " to anyone else until she's old enough for him to legally, "spend quality time alone with her". And if she takes her mother's advice, she'll wait.
