The New And Improved Ballad BLizzard.

Prince says; LISTEN TO THIS!

PS, Joy In Repetition is the original version, with the drum computer beat intro, not that horrid edited version as released on Graffiti Bridge.

And Paris is that sublime instrumental intro Alan Leeds speaks about in the lines notes of The Hits/The B-Sides. It got named 'Paris' by bootleggers, but it fits the ABC mold. That divine trumpet is Atlanta Bliss, often credited to Miles Davis.

I dropped Anna Stesia, which is also on my Songs For Sunday collection...

New additions are Joy In Repetition and Old Friends For Sale, for which I had to drop Let's Have A Baby.

The ABC still works FINE...

This Blizzard will go out to a non-Prince fan. Together with a comilation of non-single songs that are STILL beautiful. Well, non-single... lots of b-sides though...

Nice selection. I would have added Pink Cashmere,Crucial and Extraordiniary inplace of a few of those but still a nice list.

As soon as I have my editor again, I might edit The One into a short version and drop Venus De Milo in favour of some other tunes...

True, Crucial was on a previous version of this collection. But, using the ABC to compile this collection, it was just a bit too close to Adore. I do not know if you know, but Crucial was intended to go on Sign O The Times, but Prince kicked it offa the record in favour of Adore. So there you go.

Yes, I did know that about Crucial and Adore and I see your reasons as to why you seperate them this time. That makes sense.I used to make outtake albums kinda the same way.As a matter of fact, now I'm inspired to do the same biggrin

I make playlists on my Windows Media Player, which I whip down into albums every now and then, for friends that are not fan.

I have collections with his guitar rockers, with his inspirational songs, with his b-sides, one with my personal faves etc. Works FINE...

PS, First I compiled ALL the 'ballads' (let's not get into what is considered 'ballad', to me they are love songs, in whatever guise) and then I pick the ones that work well together, or the ones I just love most, like in this case.

Give me "Insatiable" and "Damn U" over "Adore", but I still love your comp!

Adore's got those backing vocals I go all mellow for. Love Damn U too...

How you like the uncut Insatiable. Well edited for album release of missed chance?

I like the whole thing, uncut. The album version should have been the single release.

One Night Alone is playing now...

Dayum... so swell... the mixing his falsetto with his deep voice; sublime. The piano. The intro. Everything. Such a classic. Such a shame he harldy plays it live.

"3121" is incredible live. I think it's his best song in at least 10 years.

You are allowed to think that, but I reserve that place in MY list for One Night Alone. Serious. I love it THAT much.

To me the lyrics of 3121 are perfect for a dance, but as contender for Best Song Of The Last Ten Years it does not cut it.
Even though that beat, pumping... jimeny cricket!
