On the Rave DVD The Artist ( at that time ) said that when his parents broke up his father a read piano in the basement. Now had it have been a red guitar along next to the piano which do you think would have picked up first?

Second which do you think shows out more while playing?
yes we know he dances on top of the piano, plays it with his feet, and plays it while under (partyman), and plays it backwards (partyman) !
but then again he throws his guitar around, rock around his body while still playing (i could never take the place of yo man), makes 50 million different sounds on it, plays with one hand, then smacks it (las vegas) and humps it (Dirty mind era)

UM I'm guessing guitar for 2 reasons
One he'll start out a show on a guitar b4 a piano
Two he'll always pick up a guitar and play a song if asked if one is around. most of his songs at a concert are mostly played with him having a guitar(s).

He's just more innovative with his guitar sound.

You're asking if he had had a choice between the two, which would he have picked up first?

I say piano, but I may be biased from my own experience.

If he's a kid and hasn't had any music lessons, it would be easier to figure out the keyboard and pick out songs or chords there. You don't have to tune it, it's all linear and you can start out just doing the One-Finger Johnny and end up playing something .

And if he saw his dad playing it, that would probably be what he gravitated toward.

The showmanship would be added later on either piano or guitar. First and foremost he learned to play. Then he learned to perform and put on a show.

He's extraordinary on both,but he's so sexy on guitar!

Yes I have seen a few concerts where he played with his feet. I cant remeber the name I was at one of my relatives house in atlanta. I do know they were in 86. He plays the piano backwards on the Partyman video. He is on top of it and playing right hand keys with his left hand and vice versa.
