return of the bump squad!!! how good is this song?! i am just revisiting it for the first time in too long.
it rocks. 'course, i already knew that- but boy, does it rock. the squealin geetar in the chorus is the business. 'course, it's a rewrite (or re-riot) of the "eye no" melody- and i think p's used similar melody lines in other songs, can't remember em now... but seriously. it's all about the treatment, it's all about the context. "bump squad" funx. whaddya say?

Yeaah it sure does. I always thougt it did. If It had been a commercial release it would have been a hit. "The good Life" from Exodos would have been a major hit 2.

___- i think "bump squad" could've been a hit too. for me, it's one of the best prince songs of the 90s. up there in the top 20, maybe top 10 if i sat down and thought about it... it just jams. managing to sound both contemporary upon its release, *and* like a classic prince song. a trick he rarely pulled off in the 90s. a fine updating of the prince sound..
