I'm sure Prince liked it too

I thought it was the bomb - best song on the album, funkiest version live.
Some of the best live guitar I have heard from him since SOTT. As for Chaka - yup it was groovy - but it was a medley of decades old music - fun, but hardly earth-shattering.

I don't have cable so I first had to watch it on HQ (on the d.l. at work) and wasn't SO into it. I thought it was decent, but not as great as it should have been for the close out of the awards.
But then I watched it a couple more times and it is FUNKY. It is definitely the type of performance that grows on one, I think. I love how he slowed it down and turned up the bass. I can only imagine it being even better live. I could do without Tamar co-singing lead (just back up would be fine, thanks) and still not feeling Will.I.am's freestyle, but 3121 is funky. Perhaps it wasn't the best choice to close out the show cause a lot of people probably don't know it (Black Sweat may have been better), but since when does Prince do what people expect? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

As the title of the thread explains, we are specifically discussing the performance of 3121 (as in the song, not the album)... The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

So to answer the question, Freaks On This Side, Peach, Wedding Feast, and South were performed. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Prince "fans" don't know what they want besides complaining about every damn thing. Prince and Mint Condition SHOULD own the charts.....but they don't. I know a few reasons why. :paranoid: But Marge! If you ask me, it was his best performance since Brits or SNL. I love his edgy performances. Besides he didn't play "Let's Go Crazy"(again), which was more than nice.
