Here's an odd little question I haven't seen before. What is your favorite Prince song where the vocals include spoken word as well as singing? Ex.: during Cloreen Bacon Skin boyfriend quips, "MF-er didn't even have the headphones on." Or at the end of Sarah he states, "Good, one more take."

don't understand the question. do you mean when there's an intro or an outro spoken word tagged on from the studio session? in that case i think "la, la, la, he, he, hee" would have to be a contender. i forget what is said at the end, something like

"ok, play that over."

the coolest spoken word collage prince has ever made imo is the segue from "eye no" to "alphabet st". the prince lyric database website- forget its name, and i think it's defunct now anyway- was incredible on this kind of stuff. they listed lines and phrases i'd never noticed in there before.

i jammed my headphones on and listened carefully, carefully, carefully. INCREDIBLE. so much stuff packed into that little section of time, and beautifully arranged.

does anybody have the transcription of that segue? would love to read it again.

spoken intro to "2 nigs united 4 west compton" is a close 2nd.

It doesn't have to be an intro or outro. Just any time Prince stops singing and speaks into the microphone for whatever reason. We all know his singing voice is remarkable. But he has such an interesting speaking voice as well.
