I am listening to New Power Soul and although I hated the album, I really liked Come On, Wasted Kisses and Shoo Be-Doo (?).

hard question for me to answer. there's only one prince album i really don't like as a whole (maybe two, but i'm withholding judgment for a while longer), and that album is RAVE. but then he released the remix album, and i really like that version.

Emancipation is so bloated that about 20 songs sould have been kept for Crystal Ball. Face Down was my fave, but Disc 2 was too mushy, but if I had to choose, Joint 2 JOint.

Zannalee of Chaos and Disorder. That was the Gem on this album!

I've always been divided on Emancipation, but when I saw the Jam Of the Year tour in January 98, I gained a little more respect for it.

I don't inc;ude his 80's albums because he was at his creative Zenith then and even his missteps were enjoyable.

Some of the 90's albums were garbage, but if you listened hard enough, there was always that one or two tracks that make you say "Damn...the guy still has it."

NPS is my personal pinata. I hate the album, but it really is a weird project by th NPG (mainly Prince). No real jam that ranks as a classic, but I find some of the songs melodic.

I can think of Bad tracks on Gem Albums

I am not crazy over the Symbol album...I like 7, ...and God Created Woman, and Love 2 the 9's (sometimes).

I am on the fence with Emancipation...some of it is brilliant (I LOVE the 2nd disc and part of the 3rd), but its way too long. The original Cystal Ball it is not. But highlights?...Face Down, Saviour, Curious Child, Joint 2 Joint, The Holy River.

For You has Soft & Wet...thats about the only one I really like.

Whoever is saying Black Album and Dirty Mind are bad albums needs a lobotomy...QUICK!!

Also, I like most of Rave...I just really hate the Everyday is a Winding Road cover so much it ruins the album for me. But c'mon guys...I Love U, But Don't Trust You, Strange But True, Man o War, So Far So Pleased, and Pretty Man are all top quality Prince tracks.

Mabye im just to big of a fan of his music....
The olny bad album i can think of is NEWS..
but its realy not that bad of a album...its just prince doing something diff from the norm

There are hidden gems on ALL of the (generally viewed) bad albums.

Honestly IMO "Rave Un2" is a disappointing album... but it contains "I Love U but I Can't Trust U Anymore" that is one of my favourite P tracks.
In my mind probably it would fits very well on "One Nite Alone"....

That's important because certain albums rubbed off on me only after I heard them a few times: For You, Prince, Controversy, The Gold Experience, Chaos & Disorder, Emancipation, New Power Soul, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, Musicology, and 3121. Everything else I immediately liked. I'll still give Dirty Mind a spin every once in awhile, but even if I begin to like it a little better I doubt it will change the fact that it's his weakest effort (except for maybe Kamasutra).
