Why do people always compare them together??? Just because they were popular in the same decade doesn't mean they're the same. It's like comparing Madonna and Blondie together. I just don't get it. U'd be talking about Prince and then the start talking about MJ. WHY?????

And as long as there is a least common denominator (Musician) you can do it even on a logical base. And both are well-known for their ability to produce and arrange. Both are pioneers of the black and white music cross-over. Both are pretty weird. (O.k. during the last decade it has become more and more clear that MJ is in this category uncomparable.)

These comparisons are annoying because they've been done to death. And they have become particularly irritating as MJ's legal problems mounted, because die-hard MJ fans felt a need to defend him, both as an artist and a person. That resulted in numerous Prince-MJ threads lauding MJ's talents, invariably deteriorating into discussions on his questionable behavior.

And for the record, Prince wins.
