Yes it's true. I've finally made my decision, based on some discoveries I've made in recent weeks. Prince's music used to be a source of inspiration to me, innovative and uplifting. Now I find it neither innovative, inspiring, nor uplifting. I actually find it frightening. I do not agree with Prince's new found beliefs, in fact because of some of the things I've learned, they even worry me.

First some background:
When I was a teenager I began to dabble in the occult (as many teens do). My friends and I would play ESP games, testing each others ability at telepathy and clairvoyance. We would get books from the library on how to develop your ESP powers, and I even got some books that dealt with witchcraft and satanism. While reading these books I got a terrible feeling, hearing a voice inside me, (not my own) telling me "Don't read these books" "Leave it alone" "You don't know what you're doing" "It's wrong" I wondered if the voice I was hearing could be my guardian angel, or maybe even God himself (what I later learned is sometimes refered to as the "still, small voice of God") Needless to say, I stopped reading those books!

Now, fast forward to the late 80's:
I had just gotten married and embarked on a spiritual search. I became fascinated by different religions, intrigued by what people believe and why they believe it, and coming to terms with my own personal beliefs. I read numerous books on the subject including a few about the dangers of the occult. One titled The Beautiful Side Of Evil by Johanna Michaelsen, who had psychic abilities and had worked with a psychic surgeon in Mexico performing "miraculous healings" only to discover that not all "miracles" come from God. And another book called The Hidden Dangers Of The Rainbow by Constance Cumbey, which is about the "New Age Movement" infiltrating all of society including religious organizations like Christians, Jews and Orthodox Muslems. They use the rainbow as their symbol. In the Bible, the Rainbow is the symbol of God's covenant with man that He would never again destroy the earth by flood. New Agers use the rainbow to signify their building of the Rainbow Bridge (antahkarana) between man and Lucifer. Very interesting reading, though I admit some of it sounded a little far-fetched.

And now to recent years:
When I heard in the late 90's that Prince was studying with Jehovah Witnesses, it bothered me. I admit I didn't know much about JW's but what I did know, I didn't like, (they had been considered a cult, they had their own version of the Bible which biblical scholars considered grossly inaccurate) But I figured, OK he's on a spiritual search, just like I had been, let's just wait and see what happens. I then started to learn more about Jehovah Witnesses and the more I learned, the more I didn't like and didn't agree with.
Then comes The Rainbow Children, first I was surprised by the title. With Prince's new found "religious" beliefs, did he not know anything about the negative connotations now associated with the rainbow? Listening to the CD, I was shocked. Besides the few lines that are blatantly JW, there was so much else that seemed so distorted, so wrong. My husband then walked in and listened to some of it and read some of the lyrics. He was also shocked but made a joke the way he always does, telling me, "Like I said, Prince is one fudged-up little cracker!"
I have not been able to listen TRC all the way through since then. I tried once, getting that terrible feeling again halfway through and hearing that voice again "Don't listen to it" "Put it away" "Leave it alone" "It's not right"(My guardian angel? The still, small voice of God?)
There was still something that kept gnawing at me, nagging me, so I pulled out The Hidden Dangers Of The Ranbow and began reading it again and made some interesting comparisons. Besides the use of the rainbow as a symbol, the New Age Movement uses many terms to convince people that their beliefs are biblical. The will use the term "The Christ" which is not in reference to Jesus Christ but actually refers to the antichrist, (Prince changed his song "The Cross" to "The Christ"???!!!) New Agers say that Jesus was man and Christ was God and that Jesus earned his "Christship" (JW's believe that Jesus was the Son of God and God's first creation, but not God, both deny the deity of Jesus) New Agers are trying to bring "religions" to one common belief that we all have God with in us in a sence that we are all "God". They call it At-One-Ment, a distortion of the word atonement. Prince has preached at concerts that we all need to come together "as one" with one common belief, all believing in the same thing. New Agers use certain catch phrases to refer to this "coming together as one", phrases such as New World Order and New World Religion (New World Translation??)
Then I saw the thread, here on the org, about the Akashic Records and its basis in the occult. That convinced me it's time to leave.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Prince is evil or that JW's are evil or that The Watchtower Society is part of the occult. I think that they truly believe that they are on the right track. I'm simply saying that in MY OPINION, maybe, just maybe, JW's (and Prince) are actually caught up in what they fear the most. JW's believe that the world, including governments and other religions are under Satan's control. Isn't it possible that their organization is just as much under Satan's influence? Charles Taze Russell began his Bible study, that later became the Jehovah Witnesses in the mid 1870's, right around the same time the New Age Movement received it's start with the founding of the Theosophical Society by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. Isn't is possible similar influences were floating about?

And now to the org. There has been way too much negativity here lately, a lot of hate, anger and insults being thrown around. It used to be a fun place, it's not anymore. So I'm leaving.

I must say again however, that all this is just MY OPINION, my own perceptions, conclusions that I came to on my own, through my reading, my experiences, and what my heart and soul is telling me. Take it for what it is, and flame me if you want, but I can no longer come to a website that puts on a pedestal a man who's path I feel is so wrong. His old music is still an inspiration to me, but I want nothing to do with his new.

I am now going to delete my account.

Goodbye All! angel

I guess announcing the deletion of your Prince.org account is the next best thing to being able to view your own funeral, seeing who cries and who doesn't. Whatever floats yer boat. We all know you'll keep on lurking...everybody does...

You've made a lot of references to spiritual matters, all of which were someone elses opinion. Search the scriptures if you're looking for the truth.

Before passing judgement on someone else, remember, you'll be passing the same judgement on yourself. Best wishes in finding that narrow path that leads to everlasting life.

You can not listen to Prince and not be a part of Prince.org. Whatever.

However, to claim you're on a spiritual search yet read the specious type of books you're reading is a joke. Try reading something by Karen Armstrong or another respected author who has a greater philosophical insight into these matters. You might actually learn something.

And please, no one is psychic. John Edwards and his ilk are complete shams. Anyone who claims they're a psychic is lying. I guess it shouldn't, but sometimes I'm amazed by people's stupidity.

Another great example of the perils of religious thinking. Very wacky stuff indeed. MusicAngel may actually be psychotic as evidenced by her repeated experiences with auditory hallucinations.

Anyone that announces they are leaving is just looking for attention which means they are lonely. Which means they need to get a social life. Go out and get one.

It's just that it's become terribly unconvincing.

If I had a quarter for every time someone on the Org or AMP said they were giving up on Prince...

If I had a dime for every time someone announced their departure from the Org only to come back...

If I had a penny for every time someone cited spiritual and religious differences regarding Prince...

I'd have about $ 19,362.53

P.S. : I think people are trying to defuse those departures by saying "Just leave." It's kind of a perverse reverse psychology. Cuz no one has the energy to explain in detail why the person should not be leaving for the reasons cited.

Considering that the jw sect declare almost everything outside of their dogma "devilish" and "pagan", I find funny and ironic that for some people they are perceived as being evil too.

Huh? On the occult? Where's this thread?

Isn't it possible Prince includes all that
questionable material and it's origins
to further make us look deeper.

Then sees who believes what and who follows whom...giving us the option to
choose which light to adhere to...

Isn't that Johhny Thunders quote actually
Ralph Kramden's " U can't put your arms around a memory---" Then Alice says " I can't even put my arms around U!"
