What's your fave track from "One Nite Alone...Live!"? This weekend's 3121 offering over at the club got me thinking... I love the marathon version of "Joy in Repetition" on the aftershow disc, but I do think I'm most blown away by the whole "The Rainbow Children"/"Muse 2 the Pharoah"/"Xenophobia" deal at the beginning. It just sounds like Prince and the band getting lost in the music, which is always the best vibe on his live recordings. Love it. Are there popular favorites from this boxed set? What's yours?

Honestly, I think I listened to it once.
Of all the terrific boots out there, I figured Prince would have wanted this to sound as least as good. Though the sound quality is good, the energy of his live shows is missing in this one. I guess I'll give it a listen again to see which one I like.

After going to all the D.C. shows, the opening track for me is the best since that one was recorded there. Family Name is also nice.

"Xenophobia" and "Strange Relationship" r the highlights of that set 4 me. Stunning. Although his speech at the end of "Anna Stesia" pisses me off. He makes a beautiful speech about unity, rising 2 a higher level and coming 2gether as 1 and promptly starts schilling the NPGMC was the ultimate in tacky and he deserved 2 b smacked 4 that.
other than that minor infraction on my fandom, the box set is pretty bad-a**. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

Avalanche - one his best songs of the last ten years. The song is so achingly beautiful, well-written, with a complex vocal arrangement and piano. The metaphor of an avalanche representing society's failure to honestly address racism is one of P's deepest illustrations of oppression. It's interesting how the song musically progresses like you would think an avalanche would. And the whitewashing of American history surrounding the myths of icons like Abraham Lincoln serve the larger meaning of the song.

I absolutely love the piano medley from Disc 2. Adore, The Beautiful Ones, I Wanna Be Your Lover...even when the album versions of these songs are a bit worn out for me, I can pop this in and they sound fresh and fun. The Normal Whores Club
