Do you ever get sick of Prince? I know some of us here listen to him all the time. Do you ever get sick of him?
I tend to have longish breaks from his music to keep it fresh so I dont over play him & lose my love for certain songs. I want to play it all the time but I know if I do, the albums will lose their edge for me. U? Lewis

Lately I've slowed down on listening. I listen to Prince so much that like cloud9 I have to take breaks to keep it fresh. I'm firmly planted in denial

Prince is one of the very few artist I love to listen to. Infact I rather listen to him than any other because his albums can be so versitile (excuse my english spelling). But yes every once and a while I need a little break from him...but when I start listening again It revives the soul and I learn to appreciate his talent even more.
There ain't no one like him. Sometimes I feel like a nut..sometimes I don't

Prince is probably the only artist I could stand to listen to 24/7. I love his music so incredibl much I cuold stand to be locked in a room with 4 walls, some food, water, and Prince music continually playin (and maybe a poster... hey gotta have something to look at, why not him?) til the day that I die,,, and I would be very happy the whole time... as long as i got my Prince funk, I'm chill, and ain't no one gonna cange that.. NEVER... I'll never get sick of the man.

Yup! I've stopped listening for like half a year (!!). Listened to some new artists instead. Then, one day rediscovered...and boy, he sounded so much better than b4. You can hear new details in the songs, listen to different instruments and all.

Only when he's editing curse words out of old songs...
I might let a few weeks go by w/o listening to him, but never more than that. I find that I get so caught up in his music, I go on a tangent & want to hear everything - it takes a long time & a damn good alternative to get out of that zone. But it's essential to have The Hits/B-Sides in the car so if the mood hits, I have a variety of flavors to choose from (B-Sides can cure any mood). I also don't loan out ANYTHING from my P collection - you never know when you'll NEED to hear one a dem gems...

I take long breaks not listening to Prince, and when I go back to it, it sounds exciting again. _________________________________________

my moods are constantly shifting... prince is a constant for me... i probably never go more than a few days without listening to prince... but it seems like every week or so, there's a different artist that just seems to be on heavy rotation in my house... like, for some reason, this week i just can't get enough bob dylan... last week it was the time... there are certain artists and cds that i don't think i could ever get tired of, though... like prince's "around the world in a day" (well, the 2cd version that i've burned with the b-sides and extended versions), the rolling stones' "sticky fingers" and bob dylan's "time out of mind" are three such cds... Never! I haven't slowed down since 1983! But I think other people in my house are
When you have over 400 CD's of Prince, U don't have to listen to the same stuff over and over! 'nuff said. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

Rarely, but sometimes. I just want to here something else. The screwed thing is there isn't anyone as good with a different sound, imo.

I do take long breaks from Prince. The past 3 years now, I go to the Celebration, listen to all Prince-all the time for 6 weeks or so. And within a month after the celebration, I withdraw and give his music a rest.
When I fall back into it, it all sounds even better than before... There's WAY too much good music out there to let P always dominate my listening time. I may have to dig a bit to find that good music, but it's always worth it...

sick of Larry and Prince if you know what I mean.

I sometimes get completely sick of his music. Sometimes I want to hear lyrics I can relate to, you know, about the real world out there and not something about 'shoo boogie bop' or used to having mad sex. Unfortunately Prince's lyrics hardly do it for me. That's when it's time for Pulp, Splendid or Pink Floyd. I NEVER get sick of Prince... although at times I may feel a little "burned out" therefore needing a break also - from time to time just as others have mentioned.
BUT - for the most part - I listen to something by Prince just about EVERY DAY.. at least ONE song! www.3121.com

i think it is really hard to get sick of his music because there is so much. if you are tired of one album (or era) you can move to another. If you don't wanna hear funk, you got some rock or pop or blues, etc. recently i just rediscovered For You after not having listened to his early stuff for quite a while, so it all comes around again in time i guess.

No, I don't get sick of Prince,
I simply continue to pay less attention to him & his (subpar, in my opinion) music.. There are indeed certain songs & albums that I love & could play all the time, but I simply lack the motivation to care much about what he does these days. In fact, the only time now that I listen to Prince is when I attend the LovesexyDC parties that feature his music. I have 1 cassette that I made- "Prince Funk 78-82 & 84-88"- that's in my "rollerblade musis rotation".. other than that, that's it. There's enough good music out there by other musicians & singers to listen to.. thus I don't have the opportunity to get sick" of listening to Prince I'll see you tonight..
