I think some of you appear to be interpreting the songs the wrong way. That's why you don't like them. I don't think Prince ment the Holocaust wasn't terrible beyond words, but I interpret it as 'besides the Holocaust' get it.

Folks, this is a line that came from a musical genious. Should be on Ripley's Believe it or Not.

"If I gave you diamonds and pearls, would you be a happy boy or a girl" I don't think this has to do with bisexuality at all, just finding a word that rhymes. It's a nice song, unless you listen to it.

Tonight I'm a star... and you're the big dipper.
(GLAM SLAM '91)

If that didn't sound GAY I don't know what did. He obviously felt that way and changed it when it was released as GETT OFF.

I would also add that Adonis and Bathsheba has some crappy lyrics (printed in a book sold at the Glam Slam night club)
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

THIS THREAD IS SO INNANE IT DOESN'T DESERVE MY RESPONSE.

How can U "criticize" lyrics that can be
intentionally obscure or comical or just
plain weird? He does his best to be different and cover a lot of specctrums.

I don't understand how such a musical genius can be criticized so thoroughly by supposedly true fams. For one, it must be rather difficult for a musican to try to please everyone's needs and musical interest. What everyone must remember is he writes what he feels is true and real. I think if you can't begin to even try to accept that then what is left. To judge someone's peace of mind is like critisizing a persons soul. Yes, some lyric's appear to be a bit odd at times but that's what draws people to listen. To say that some songs are completely crap says to me "open ur heart open ur mind." Diamonds and Pearls I feel is passionate and beauty. Man O' War is a deeper side of his heart and saddness. And finally TMBGITW is just a masterpiece in how much he values and respects the fact that a woman is beautiful just being who she is. I love all songs and lyrics and just feel the vibe while it's there. I think more people should try to be less critisizing of others and more of themselves.

I never agreed with that, although a lot of people here seem to dislike the "rap" stuff.

"Funky Design", "Days of Wild", "Face Down", "The Flow". "Mr. Happy"...I like all of those songs. Oh well.
