POOR NEW YORKERS

Am I the only one who felt bad for those New Yorkers. Shit. 2 1/2 songs and out. Ouch. I felt really bad for them and still do.

If Prince was thinking straight, he would have told GMA goodbye after the 2 1/2 song set and played for 3 hours for free to the crowd. That would have done him a lot of good.

BTW, the best song of the set today was Tamar Red Headed Stepchild. Sorry to say its better than anything on 3121. Is that an original from Prince or a cover?

if you weren't there how do you know he only did 2 1/2 songs? don't artists do about an hour but only 2 songs or so get aired?

Umm....wasn't the concert free? Why would anyone walk away upset about a concert they didn't pay to see? eek

very true. if folks had to pay to see 'im, then i'd probably side with the "poor new yorkers" remark.

if i went and he only did two songs i wouldn't be mad or anything. i'd be a little disappointed that he didn't do a longer set after waiting for hours to see 'im but, hey, that would be my own fault.

new Yorkers on no, you knew what you getting which is what you paid - nothing. I came in from Philly just to see him and wasn't expecting to see much, but it was still cool. there was a problem wiht the snd check after the first song. If there wasn't that prob, we prolly would have had another song or two.

You guys and your bad attitudes.... Yeah, Prince did good to play that set for free. I mean, nothings free anymore right?

Prince would have shown some real class by putting on a real free concert.

Remember when Diana Ross did it, The Beatles, U2. Those things are rembembered, not a mere 2 1/2 song set.

Im just looking at the big picture and not stuck on some hype trip.

That's the routine. It wasn't a concert...it was GMA. I think NYers know that. The regulars (those who attend the Friday series) left as soon as the song ended. All the Prince fans lingered a bit hoping that he would play another. That's natural. I hoped he would play one I could see but I knew otherwise. NYC is strict about those things. No one complained though.

OK. I am on a different page, because I strictly knew of the concert as a free concert in New York and 2ndly heard the news will pick up on it.

Lost opportunity for Prince. Too bad.

where's the bad attitude in that shit? if something's getting put on for free, no matter who's doing it, i ain't gonna have the mindset of "this cat betta rip it up! i mean 20-minute solos from everybody, pyrotechnics, and i'ma quit the bastids for good if they don't give everybody in the house a namecheck and a complimentary bottle of night train!!!"

if anybody expects more out of a free performance such as that, i feel sorry for 'em. i've seen prince either for cheap or for free, and in all the instances i have, i came simply to have a good time. i don't put a dollar value on being happy or pleased.

no, he wouldn't have. its fine that he did the minimum requirement, nobody should expect more. but let's just stop with the excuses. its not because of a sound check problem. its not because of an ordinace issue. its not because of anything outside of prince just didn't wanna do a free show.

perhaps he wanted to encourage more folks to pay the 121.03 ticket price for the butter show? who knows. but stop with the excuses. lol

I don't think it's that...there's only enough room for 20 people in that place, to begin. That kinda sucks. That's one of my beefs with the Butter thing.

Prince has been becoming relavent this year with some of the shit he's been up to. The AI performance, yeah, but more so the Tower Records gig. He had the national stage and blew it. Lets go crazy? Fuck im getting sick of that rendition. "GO GO GO A GO GO GO"

Come on with something different already.

Overall Tamar saved the day with Red Headed Stepchild.

That was nice. That song came across clearest, live. Especially the guitar (That's what makes the song). She's better than I thought 'cause I thought, for sure, that was Prince.

I think its sad...people on this site, expect so much from Prince!
He doesn't owe any of us any "damn" thing.

Prince, just like anyone else whose on GMA play 2 songs for their summer concert series. Prince was allowed to do "Let's go Crazy" which was something extra. I've seen many GMA concerts on TV and its a 2 song limit.

Prince the NY'ers a lil bonus treat.
His performance of "Get on the Boat" was amazing and so was "Red Headed Step Child".

3121 is a great album and I wish PRINCE all the best on his successful album, which deserves to be heard by millions more.

Thanx PRINCE, it was well worth my waking up at 7am to see you perform on a day I have off.

Prince looked great, sounded great, rocked out and I love the new hair style bro.

Poor New Yorkers? I think New Yorkers are smart enough to know they have much more important things to be pissed off about than Prince playing 3 songs on a TV show. rolleyes

If you didn't know about the Butter show until 2 1/2 MINUTES after they went onsale, you still wouldn't have gotten a ticket. That show sold out in 1.5 minutes tops.

After I typed in all my contact and card info and hit return, I already got the "SOLD OUT" message. I looked at the clock on my computer and it said 12:02. confused

I just watched it again. Right before he does LGC the host started talking as if the show was over, but Prince suddenly started playing. lol She was like, ok, go ahead then. Brotha man P just go up in folks house and take over, Lmao!

It was the best mini concert GMA has ever seen. They said P broke the attendance records. He is the baddest man on earth and he showed it one more time. cool

3121 deserves a full blown tour!

I wouldn't blame it entirely on your typing; the same thing happened to me, except the clock said 12:01. eek It sold out in less than a minute. mad
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
