But Vanity, Apollonia, or Carmen Status.... what were they before Prince? I agree, when I saw Tamar, people wanted to see prince, and they booed her. I believe her complexion has something to do with that, and if you think that's BS then fine, but there is a stigma attached to being dark skinned, talent or no. Nuff said!

She is a dark skinned black woman and peeps can call foul all they want... but dark skinned black woman still have a hard time measuring up to equally talented..or even less talented light skinned..women of color. If you can't see it in the media... then.. you are blind, delusional or both. But.. hey.. it may be a good thing to not see the color of thier skin as a measure of quality... too bad and unfortunately others do...weither they admit to it or not Tamar's outfit did suck. I had a blast out at Bryant Park today. It was worth getting up at 3:30 that's for damn sure! VIP has its perks. My take on GMA:
The Pros -When I saw the percussions, I figured Sheila E was going to be in the house and then I had an idea we'd get to hear Get On the Boat. That was a hot performance and seeing Maceo Parker was an added bonus -I like the song selections but with that said, I hope this is one of the last times I have to hear Let's Go Crazy. It's getting old now. =Prince looked hot with the pink and turquoise. Proof that only Prince can get away with a look like that. That's why I love da man! -I liked Tamar. People dog her but she's one of the best protege's Prince has had cause she has talent. I wish her the best -When I watched the show when I got home, I saw myself a few times! Icing on the cake for me 
The Cons -The audio sucked ass. Major ass. I firmly believe that is why we didn't get more songs. I knew the sound was bad when they started playing songs from 3121 on the speaker and they weren't loud at all. Shame on GMA. Someone dropped the ball and I hope a head or two rolls behind that. Seriously -Looking back on it, Tamar's outfit was not flattering at all. I'm glad I could see the talent through all of that but for a new artist, you have to bring it EVERYTIME, especially when it comes to fashion It was a great morning and I rode the subway home on a purple high. I had a great time and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

I tivo'ed the show, so it was waiting for me when I came home. As soon as I saw that suit I thought "Aw yeah it's on" LOL I didn't love the jacket (kinda Gene Autry to me) but the COLORS!!!! 
I agree with Gangstafam. To me "Redheaded Stepchild" was the strongest of the 2 1/2 songs. Made me want Tamar's cd when it's released. (So mission accomplished LOL) Baby looked good...real good...scrumptdiddlyupmtous in fact!!! I'm firmly planted in denial | |

I don't think anyone was hating on Tamar (unless I'm missing a few threads). I didn't think her outfit was hideous, I just would have chose a different look that's all. The shorts were cool, it was the top that was hideous - like a fanmaker said "here hold these" to her. I would have made the shorts SHORTER and then had a more form fitting top (minus the Foofy Foofies) that was sleeveless and gave her a killer silver necklace and silver bangles, pushed her hair out of her eyes and she would have been okay. Not the best, but if that's all she had to work with. Probably Prince owed a favor to some designer.
