Come on Prince.... As a prince fan, this was a treat but other than that this was a downer to close the show. I'm sure those in the stand was like, what in the hell is he singing....

OK.
So was that Morris soloing with a guitar sample on the keyboard? Or was there another guitarist? There were 2 moments when Prince was clearly strumming, and there was a distorted solo going on. Otherwise, I didn't really dig his solo, but his voice was ON POINT. "He's a musician's musician..."

I knew it! Great performance, it just could've used a longer guitar solo ala Rock and Roll HOF.

I'm so bored of those way over produced, flashy, trying to go out with a bang live performances. This one was perfect, nice and low key. It was a nice change.

I get the feeling, BET may have informed him of his limited time. They were hyping his "Spectacular" performance. It seems like the song was just ended, kinda flat, and Will I Am was brought up to sorta save face, so everyone wouldn't walk out. The first performance was awesome, but I'm now sure this "finale" wasn't what P had in mind.
btw, damon wayans wasn't a good host. he shoulda stayed off the stage at the end, and just let P end it. Peace, bodank [Edited 6/27/06 20:19pm] Every time I watch the other people news, I see a false picture of myself, another one of u. They try 2 tell us what we want, what 2 believe. Didn't that happen in the Garden, when somebody spoke 2 Eve? But I'm willin'....

I thought it was alright, I wish he would have switched it to Black Sweat and did a dance number. It's nice to see him at BET finally. He must have forgave them for firing Tavis (in 2000 or 2001 he said he is protesting the award show for doing his friend wrong). I got a little tired of the guiter because he was rocking it with Chaka. Did you see Busta bumpin' and K - West?
I'm happy to see him on TV so I am not going to be negitive about anything. He is still rockin' 3121...we are so use of him changing within' 6 mths to something new. GO P AND BET!!!! Prime aka The Kid

And he had some horn players back. Couldn't tell who they were though.

3121 Performance was just "Meh". I dug the Chaka thing with P and Stevie more.
"Black Sweat" as it was performed/described at Butter woulda fit the show better but then again the idiots that watch BET on a daily basis think Chris Brown is talented so what difference does it really make? Keep doing your thing P. He has more talent in one of his fingernails than the Chris Browns and Ne-Yo's of the world put together. MikeA

ya'll know he had to promote the after party. It was ok, for an abbreviated version of the song. I'm sure it jams longer if he's doing it at a show.
I am soooo glad he did not sing Let's Go Crazy or anything like that. Ya'll wanted a funky number and he did one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think if the mix was better, and they had time 2 jam on it 4 a while, with Prince taking over the Bass 4 a Bass solo, it would've knocked everyone dead.
OR: Black Sweat, beginning with an extended jam, with Prince on the synth, and the background vox real low (almost whispered) and funky, like: "workin'...workin' up a Black Sweat..." THAT woulda torn the roof off. Oh... a wish list... after the fact... Anyway... I gotta go watch it again, and see how I really feel. "He's a musician's musician..."

I loved the 3121 performance. Great song selection.
That was his best live peformance from this album -- even better than Fury. That geetar was crazee, man!. What did I tell y'all about his need to rock the guitar. He was hard-rockin that bytch. Loved it. And Will.I.Am might as well just follow him back to the studio and get on the remix. I know y'all prolly hate BEP, but that wasn't so bad.

I'm glad that he sang something new live. I think he listened to us about the Twinz. Their mic privileges have been revoked. See he does care about what we think.

I really enjoyed the live version of 3121. It's funky and it hits hard. I'm looking forward to hearing this on the tour. Easily tied for favorite live Prince performance this year...right there with Fury SNL.

Right. I don't understand why people keep saying he should have sung Black Sweat. 3121 is cool. BS is lame by comparison...it would have been the same ole wack performance. I'm very critical of PRince but I thought this performance was beyond reproach. I really, really dug it. Compared to BS, 3121 has more interesting and mysterious lyrics and atmosphere.

I thought the Chaka Khan Tribute was his performance. I left the room and missed his finale!! DAMMMMN !!! The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

THe finale was underwhelming.....the night should have mimicked the RRHOF with the tribute to Chaka mirroring the tribute to George Harrison.
The energy was higher for Chaka's gig. Damon Wayans is an ass clown. Lousy MC for the show! "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

Listen, 3121 was a great choice to perform, but it sounded terrible, IMHO. Was Prince just not feelin' it, or what?
Compare his 3121 performance to the way he was all over the stage with Chaka's performance. There's no comparison. Quite a disappointment.

I agree wholeheartedly! This is the first time since Feb. that a Prince live performance really stood out to me. I thought the GMA performance was just ok, and AI was bleh, but 3121 funky and had attitude.
