Or to put it differenly. What is the the best/worst half of any Prince album. For instance is it side one of Purple Rain or the second side of Parade? What about the worst? Of course with CD age it's harder to make the distinction but it's still possible. I feel this thread will be popular with misty eyed vinyl junkies.

i really can't get into any of those songs
tho i do love Rosie's voice on "I Rock..."

since "Fury" and "The Word" are very good, healthy tracks,
i guess i can't say it's the second side of 3121 i think
is the worst side of any prince album, but surely the last
three songs on the album make for the worst finale to any
of his albums.

it's one of the very few prince albums that lack a decent
closing song. Get on the Boat is not an album closer

The Dance is a flat lifeless -despite the dramatics- redo,

Beautiful Loved and Blessed shouldn't even be on the disc

Best--Purple Rain, Side 1. Boring choice, I know, but it's a nearly perfect song sequence.

Worst--Side 2 of For You never really grabbed my attention other than I'm Yours, which kicks ass. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's the only stuff by Prince that I never got to know very well.

Sign o the Times Disc 2 featuring U got the Look to Adore is easily the best disc/album side conceived by Prince.
However leaving uniformally bad albums aside the album with the greatest drop in quality on its Side 2 is Love Symbol.
Since my thread where I stupidly lambasted it, I have rediscovered it and found all he songs up to Sweet Baby are actually very good, but Damu U owards it gets self indulgent and rather turgent "3 Chains of Gold, Sacrifice of Victor" ugh!!! and that what nigger man crap. Compare this crap to the excellence of My name is Prince, The Morning Papers, The Continental, I wanna melt with U and the superior Sexy Motherfucker, and ladies and gentlemen we have a winner.
Honourable mention was GB but in this case the diamonds are scattered amongst the dust, eg Side 1 has the crappy Elephants and flowers with gems like Joy in Repetition and Side 2 has the supercrappy Melody Cool with the superior still would stand all time
