Emancipation outtakes I read that Emancipation was narrowed down from 56 songs to 36. If this is true, are the other songs circulating? Can anybody list some oor provide a link to a listing?

She Gave Her Angels (on CB)
Goodbye (on CB) 1000 Hugs & Kisses Slave 2 The Rhythm I Am The DJ Journey 2 The Centre Of U'R Heart Emancipation (early take) Right Back Here In My Arms (alternate) Soul Sanctuary (early take) ...are circulating at least. Maybe even "2morrow", but I think he finished it a bit after the album. I think he had more cover versions recorded too.

I recall The Prince Family newsletter listing a bunch of songs that were likely to appear on the album....
"The Man With The Golden Cloud" "Been So Wrong" "Black" "Lights Out" "20/20" "Slave 2 The System" "She Gave Her Angels" and many many more. Some of these songs we are familiar with, but many of these titles could be fakes. There's also a song called "Good Dick And A Job".It was recorded in this era but who knows if he was ever gonna include it on the album.Supposedly,it sounds similiar to "Face Down".

Wasn't "On Your Own" one of the outtakes, as well? It was a duet with Ashley Davis (Tamar).

That one's a bit earlier. But then again so were some of the other tracks that ended up on the actual album.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why "She Gave Her Angels" wasn't used on the album. It blows away a good number of the songs on Emancipation in my opinion. What can be said about the other unofficial released songs?

Aren't Hypno Paradise, Van Gogh and the early version of The Dance roughly from that era?

"She Gave Her Angels" and "Goodbye" are easily much better than anything on "Emancipation".

Prince said at Paisley 51 tracks and 5 cds. So add on another 15 tracks I suppose.

I think "Heart Of Stone" wasn't really for this project. Rather "Child Of The Sun" or something of the kind. "I'll Never B Another Fool" I personally believe was a later concoction as well.

According to The Vault, I'll Never Be Another Fool was a reworking Of Sandra St. Victor's 'I'll Never Open My Legs Again'.
So, yes, it's from the right time, but this is 'Emancipation Out-takes', not out-takes from that era, right?.... I mean, I don't think by any stretch of the imagination Prince was going to release this song himself!

I dunno if yall know but on Chaka's COME TO MY HOUSE CD, she did "I'll Never Be Another Fool" and "Journey 2 the Center of Your Heart." What do yall think of her versions of those 2 songs?

isn't slave 2 the rhythm a track from an early Gold/Dawn configuration?

Ok. That's very much true. But apparently it was considered for Emancipation before Prince took the "militaristic" drum parts of it and added them to "Slave". Help me out on this one, someone. My mind eludes completely now what was the third track that made use of those same rhythmic samples? Some related artist track? I don't want to go through them all now.
