Desire

Have you guys heard this outtake? Omg it's great! I haven't listened to it in a while and I just heard it again and I forgot how good this song was! When did he do this around'85 or '86 I'm guessing? It sounds like something that could have been around that time.

It's from 1984, and was officially released by the Family on their LP smile

Thanks for the info. I don't have the Family CD but I really liked Prince's version. Is the Family's version just as good?

Krystal, you must hear The Family's album somehow, somewhere. You'll love it.

That was from 84? I always thought it was done in 86. Man, Prince was just so ahead of the game, let alone his own game. Love the song

Pretty much the same? Different (and better) drums on Prince's version, even more Eric Leeds, I tell you Prince's version of Desire is KILLER. The Family version drags in every way.
Keep your headphones on.

SUPER killer. His voice on "what must I do to convince you? Isn't the expression on my complexion enough?" turns diamonds into Evian. It's absolutely incredible. Makes me WEAK!

My absolute favorite outtake...so smooth, great horns...far superior than The Family's version, imo...Princes delivery on this cut is truly something special...

Prince's version is great. It's one of those songs that when you hear it you just have to hit "repeat" and play it again. woot!

It's funny, cuz it sounds like it would fit perfectly alongside some of the "Parade" and "SOTT" stuff. Hard to believe it's from '84.

My ex-girlfriend actually preferred The Family version and being a misery guts even thought P's version was too cheerful for her taste

I told her where to get off, heh heh

P's demo works for me every time thumbs up!
